About the event
Conference Summary
The Where the Rivers Meet Conference: Indigiqueering Wellness is a two-day gathering on October 9th and 10th focused on Indigenous approaches to gender and sexual wellbeing. It will be hosted at Alberta Avenue Community League in Edmonton, Alberta
Friday, October 9th will be closed to Indigenous community members only. Any self-identifying First Nations, Métis, or Inuit people are welcome to attend, including status, non-status, and mixed-race community, and especially our Two-Spirit / Indigiqueer kin. The intention of this day is to provide a nourishing wellness space that supports Two-Spirit / Indigiqueer community members in their sexual and gender self care, community care, cultural care, and spiritual care practices.
In the evening on Friday, we will also host a Drag Bingo that is open to the broader community for networking, Indigiqueer joy, and fun prizes!
Saturday, October 10th will be open to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, especially service providers who work with or serve Indigenous and Two-Spirit community members. The goal of this day is to support community members in the continuation or development of decolonial allyship practices in their work and life that celebrate and support Two-Spirit / Indigiqueer peoples.
A conference package will be sent to all registrants ahead of the events with a detailed schedule, accessibility considerations, meal plan, and resources.
