Motor City Pride
About This Event
Motor City Pride is Detroit's pride and dates to a 1972 march against anti-gay laws; the picnic after that march grew into today's festival. It moved to Hart Plaza on the Detroit riverfront in 2011 and has been run by its own nonprofit since 2017.
It's a two-day weekend. The festival fills Hart Plaza on Saturday and Sunday with stages and hundreds of vendors, and on Sunday at noon the parade steps off from Fort and Griswold and ends at the plaza. Festival entry was $5 in 2026; the parade is free to watch.
Practical: Hart Plaza sits beside the Renaissance Center, downtown hotels are walkable, and Windsor, Ontario is across the river if you're combining trips. Downtown parking fills early on parade day.
The 54th edition ran 6 to 7 June 2026. The organizers projected more than 65,000 attendees; Fox 2 reported thousands, and no final count was published. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked; the festival usually takes the first full weekend of June.
