Motor City Pride 2027
About This Event
Motor City Pride happens in June, downtown, at Hart Plaza or Campus Martius. It’s the main LGBTQ+ Pride event for the Detroit area, putting the celebration right in the middle of a city tied to American industry and culture.
That downtown spot isn’t an accident. It puts queer visibility front and center in a city that’s been rebuilding its public life for fifteen years. It also shows Detroit’s queer community stretches beyond Ferndale, the suburb most people think of.
Around 45,000 people come to the festival and parade. It’s a big deal for Michigan’s LGBTQ+ population and for visitors from the Midwest. June's also when Detroit's short, but genuinely nice, summer is at its best. The riverfront, the parks, the outdoor spots – they’re all good in June and July. Hart Plaza, right on the Detroit River, lets you see Windsor, Ontario, across the water.
Pride Source, a Michigan LGBTQ+ media and events group, puts it all together.
