Best Gay-Friendly Hotels in Bern

The honest summary: Bern has no gay hotel or gay guesthouse that we know of. You don't need one. Switzerland has had marriage equality since 2022, and mainstream hotels here are used to same-sex couples. The useful question is location: stay in or near the Old Town and you can walk to Comeback Bar, the station and most sights.

Where to stay

Altstadt (Old Town). The best base. Comeback Bar (Rathausgasse 42), JAIL Bar and the QueerBooks bookshop are here, and the station is 5–15 minutes on foot.

Around the station. Practical for day trips to Zürich, Lucerne or the Oberland, and a short walk to Aqualis sauna (Brunnmattstrasse) and the Reitschule.

Länggasse and Breitenrain. Quieter, residential, a tram ride from the centre. Sundeck sauna is in Länggasse.

Near the station and beyond

• National Bern (Hirschengraben 24) and Sorell Ador (Laupenstrasse 15): a few minutes from the station.
