Dallas Pride 2026 — Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade
About This Event
Dallas Pride, officially the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade, is Texas’s biggest LGBTQ+ Pride event. It happens every September in Oak Lawn, along Cedar Springs Road. They picked September on purpose: Dallas in September is much nicer than June. You can actually celebrate outside without melting. That fall timing has let Dallas Pride become one of the South’s largest, pulling in 80,000 or more people to the Cedar Springs Strip.
The Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade marches down Cedar Springs Road—Dallas’s gay main street—and through Oak Lawn. It passes all the bars, restaurants, and community groups that make up The Strip. You’ll see floats from local groups, corporate sponsors, politicians, activist organizations, and pretty much everyone else from Dallas’s LGBTQ+ community. Dykes on Bikes usually kicks things off. Before the parade, there’s always the Spirit of Stonewall Memorial Rally.
The festival that goes with Dallas Pride brings everyone to Cedar Springs Road and the surrounding Oak Lawn blocks for a whole weekend. The Strip has a bunch of gay bars—S4 Dallas, Round-Up Saloon, The Brick, and more—which means Pride weekend turns the whole neighborhood into one big outdoor party. Patios spill out, there are street events, and bars have programming that starts in the morning and goes until late.
September in Texas is when things finally cool down from the brutal summer. Temperatures drop to a comfortable 20°C, which makes being outside in Dallas actually fun. This weather, plus all the gay spots on Cedar Springs and Oak Lawn’s long-standing community, makes Dallas Pride one of the most genuinely pleasant large Pride events on the US calendar.
