Dallas Pride — Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade
About This Event
Dallas Pride is the city's June Pride. It's separate from the long-running September parade on Cedar Springs Road in Oak Lawn, the gay district, which is now run by another group and usually draws 30,000 to 45,000. The June event moved to Fair Park in 2019, and its parade has carried the name of Alan Ross, a local activist, since 1991.
Then 2026 changed everything. Fair Park was booked as the FIFA World Cup Fan Fest, so Dallas Pride moved downtown, and police and fire officials asked for the festival and parade on the same day. The result was a one-day event on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The Festival of Rainbows took over Main Street Garden, Pegasus Plaza, Pacific Plaza and Harwood Park from 11 a.m., with $10 adult tickets and free entry for kids 12 and under. At 7 p.m. the Sunset Pride Parade, the first night parade in Dallas Pride history, went down Main Street from Field to Harwood. That's the same street as the city's first Pride march in 1972. We couldn't confirm whether the Alan Ross name was kept for the new parade.
The theme, "Rainbows Don't Wash Away," answered the removal of rainbow crosswalks in Texas. The weather took it literally: it rained. Downtown Dallas, Inc. counted about 61,000 festival-goers. Organizers had no ticket total, and parade watchers on apartment balconies weren't counted. Fewer vendors came than at Fair Park, and there was less shelter.
Practical notes: take DART. The St. Paul station sits by the main entrance at Pacific Plaza, and parking downtown fills fast. An evening parade beats the Texas heat, which is part of why it's staying.
Organizers have made a five-year commitment to downtown, so 2027 will be downtown, possibly on a longer route. It's usually early June, but the 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.

Practical Tips
The parade rolls after sundown, so pack a light layer and stake out a Main Street spot before 6:30 pm.
Festival grounds cover four adjacent downtown parks; the free DART light rail drops you steps from all of them.
