About this place Palms City Resort

Palms City Resort is a mainstream, gay-friendly hotel on the Esplanade in central Darwin, set in tropical gardens with a pool. It's not a gay venue. Accommodation ranges from motel-style rooms to separate villas, and Google reviews average 4.3 from about 750 ratings. The Mitchell Street restaurants and bars, Bicentennial Park and the harbour are a short walk away, and the Waterfront precinct is reachable on foot. Darwin's LGBTQ+ scene is small and mostly runs through community events rather than permanent bars. The wet season, roughly November to April, brings heavy storms and humidity.

We stayed just two nights but quietly wished for more time in our bungalow and with the lovely pool. And while these things were good, it was the lovely staff and sweet Pickles (who the receptionists were so generous in sharing) who really made the stay. Thank you to the kind receptionists (especially some lovely French girls) who were patient, kind and thoughtful. Bungalow rooms weren’t huge but were very carefully and thoughtfully laid out, were as clean as could be and had everything we could need.

Great location and excellent service. A great selection of different room types. The villas are very comfortable, but just a bit close to the road resulting in a bit of traffic noise during busy periods.
