My first stay was truly awful. I had to change rooms due to noise from an event late at night, and all my clothes smelled of smoke after I'd picked up a drink from the bar (!). Today, I needed a room at short notice and politely inquired about availability and possible upgrades. Unfortunately, the receptionist was incredibly dismissive and said that despite my status, she could only upgrade me by one category. She showed absolutely no empathy regarding my previous stay and explained that I had already received compensation in the form of points. Such treatment is completely unacceptable, especially for a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, and makes me reluctant to give the hotel a second chance. On the positive side, the spa area and the breakfast were excellent.
The rooms are great, however, we rebooked for a week. It was confirmed twice that the change had been made. Now we've been informed that it hasn't been done and I'm supposed to pay the full price. Even upon arrival, the initial contact was very unfriendly. We wanted to know about the directions/where to park. We were told there was a valet parking service. I explained that this was fine, but that we were being misled by the GPS. Then came the correct answer that there was a valet parking service. That wasn't my question... I then realized that he was simply stressed...
Good hotel!
How can a hotel be this good? So modern – so authentic – not at all forced… I'm truly impressed! On average, I spend 100-120 nights in hotels for work, But this one really impressed me. Finally: healthy food! No run-of-the-mill white bread and sliced cheese… a genuinely friendly atmosphere… not artificial, not at all pretentious. An 11 out of 10!
