🌈 10월 26일은 ’인터섹스 가시화의 날(Intersex Awareness Day)’입니다.

인터섹스(Intersex)는 염색체, 호르몬, 생식기관 등 성징이 전형적인 남성 또는 여성의 이분법적 기준에 완전히 들어맞지 않는 다양한 선천적 신체적 특성을 의미합니다.

인터섹스는 질병이나 반드시 교정해야 할 상태가 아니라, 인간의 몸에서 나타나는 자연스러운 다양성의 일부입니다.

💛💜 인터섹스 깃발의 노란색과 보라색은 특정 성별에 국한되지 않는 색으로, 중앙의 보라색 원은 온전함과 완전함, 그리고 자신의 몸에 대한 자기결정권을 상징합니다.

인터섹스 가시화의 날은 단순히 존재를 알리는 날을 넘어, 인터섹스 당사자의 인권과 신체적 자율성, 충분한 정보에 기반한 의료적 자기결정권을 함께 생각하는 날이기도 합니다.

누구나 자신의 몸에 대해 존중받고, 필요한 의료서비스를 차별 없이 이용할 수 있어야 합니다.

🌈 October 26 marks Intersex Awareness Day, a day dedicated to recognizing intersex people, their experiences, and their human rights.

Intersex is an umbrella term for people born with sex characteristics—including chromosomes, hormones, or reproductive anatomy—that do not fit typical binary definitions of male or female bodies.

Being intersex is not inherently a medical condition that needs to be corrected. It is part of the natural diversity of human bodies.

💛💜 The yellow and purple intersex flag represents independence from traditional gender-associated colors, while its purple circle symbolizes wholeness, completeness, and bodily autonomy.

Intersex Awareness Day reminds us of the importance of visibility, bodily integrity, informed consent, and the right to make decisions about one’s own body.

Everyone deserves respectful, inclusive, and accessible healthcare.
