Leeds: Yorkshire's Gay Scene
Leeds' LGBTQ+ scene is compact — Lower Briggate is the street, Fibre is the anchor bar, Viaduct Showbar provides the entertainment. But for a city of 793,000 people it punches below its weight in terms of dedicated venues, and many Leeds LGBTQ+ residents travel to Manchester (an hour by train) for a larger night out. What the city does have is genuine: a community-rooted scene, a strong drag tradition, and Leeds Pride in August drawing 35,000+ people to Millennium Square.
Leeds City Station is a 10-minute walk from Lower Briggate. Direct trains to Manchester Piccadilly (1 hour) make Canal Street accessible as an evening option. The city is significantly cheaper than London or Brighton.
