About this place Bunche Beach

Bunche Beach is a quiet stretch of mangrove-backed shoreline on the causeway toward Fort Myers Beach, long known locally as the area's clothing-optional and gay-cruising spot. The quieter ends of the beach, away from the main access point, are where men tend to gather, and it's busiest on warm weekend afternoons. It is a public beach and a county preserve, so any activity is discreet and the legal status is ambiguous - there is no official sanction for cruising, and visitors should be mindful of other beachgoers, posted park rules and Florida law. Bring water and sun protection; there are few facilities once you leave the parking area. Off John Morris Road, on San Carlos Bay.

Low tide you can do a short walk thru the water to a beach just north. Only a few people and secluded. Although not clothing optional many do.

Great beach! Better than Fort Myers by a landslide. Go for a reasonable distance to walk along pristine soft sandy beaches. Not much in amenities but a great beach experience.

Sweet, little hard-pressed sand beach with short, old, driftwood-like tree trunks poking up through the sand. Truly a locals' beach, clean, not huge, with sand bars to wade out into the water, lots of kids, folks on bicycles, views of downtown Ft. Myers & bridges. As far as we could tell, this is not a beach for shelling. Parking is only $2/hour, which is a real bargain.

Pleasant paddle through the mangroves and tunnels. Our guide Rachel is very knowledgeable about wildlife and nature. Unfortunately the manatees and dolphins were not out today but I would still definitely recommend the tour.

Lovely & Convenient beach to watch the sunset. Arrived 15 minutes before the sun set, not crowded, convenient parking, short walk to access the beach - Great place!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. It was kind of busy, but not too bad really. We were able to get a parking spot. You can pay from your phone- it was $2 per hour which I felt was reasonable. We went at low tide and I would definitely recommend going at that time because we were able to wade out super far into the water and there were lots of tide pools and sandbars to explore. The water was pretty clear and shallow for a long way out. I saw lots of small horseshoe crabs and found some neat shells too. I would just make sure to go at low tide. It would be a wonderful beach to visit with small children because the waves were so small and the water was shallow.

Clothing optional. At low tide, you can walk way out to the middle of the bay. At high tide, not much beach. Still a nice place.

We lucked out on getting a decent parking spot about an hour before sunset. We enjoyed walking along the soft sand and seeing the vegetation, including some showing hurricane damage. There was a lot of bird activity and then some beautiful sunset views. I recommend it!

We spent a relaxing day with our adult kids and Granchildren at Bunche Beach. The beach never gets over crowded. The water is easily accessable and swim friendly for all. The view from our beach chairs was amazing and relaxing. The entire beach has a laid back, friendly Vibe. I would highly recommend this Florida gem!

Nice natural beach and not too crowded. Shallow and calm water. Lots of nature to observe. Parking could be a problem but the price is good. Bring your own drinks etc as there is nothing there. Restrooms (port-o-potties) are a bit of a hike.
