Hunky Jesus tells the story of the wildly popular annual Easter Sunday tradition in San Francisco, known as Hunky Jesus. Hosted by legendary drag activist group and nun order, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the event is a defiant expression of community, performance and radical joy in the face of exclusion and repression.

The film also explores the groundbreaking history of the Sisters who have spent more than four decades using humor, compassion, and fearless visibility to fight stigma, raise millions for charitable causes, and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Our film's director Jennifer Kroot's canon of work, including The Untold Tales of Armistead Maupin and To Be Takei, has consistently celebrated the voices and diverse lives in the LGBTQ community.
