Bowls, babes, and a little bit of healthy competition. 🎳🌈☀️
We’re swapping the dance floor for the bowling green and heading to Fitzroy Victoria Bowling & Sports Club for a Sunday arvo of lawn bowls with the gays!
Think sunshine (fingers crossed, Melbourne), a drink in hand, a little friendly competition, and a whole lot of laughs as we discover who amongst us has been secretly training for their lawn bowls debut.
And before you ask, no, you absolutely do NOT need to know how to play.
Whether you’re a seasoned bowler, a complete beginner, or just here for the socialising and a cute Sunday afternoon activity, this one’s for you. The aim is simple: get your bowl as close to the little white ball as possible. How hard could it be? (Famous last words.)
We’ll meet at 12:30pm, with Adam there to welcome everyone, make introductions, and get the group together before we hit the green.
Once we’re underway, expect plenty of cheering, some questionable technique, a few unexpectedly impressive shots, and at least one person taking the competition far more seriously than they intended.
Coming solo? Perfect! Most of our members do. Lawn bowls is one of those brilliant activities where meeting new people happens naturally. You’ll be chatting between turns, cheering each other on, and making new mates without having to navigate a room full of strangers.
And while we’re all hoping to discover our hidden sporting talents, this is very much a social afternoon rather than a serious competition. No experience needed, no pressure to perform, and absolutely no judgment if your bowl ends up heading in an entirely different direction.
So round up your competitive spirit (or leave it at home), bring your Sunday best, and get ready for a fabulous afternoon on the green.
Come for the bowls. Stay for the banter. Leave with some new mates and possibly a new sporting obsession.
Come solo. Come curious. Come ready to roll. 💚

Reminder: All Melbourne Gay Social Club tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, and will also incur a $10 no-show fee if you are unable to attend (so please show up for your fellow members!).

Your $25 ticket covers participation in the lawn bowls activity.
Any additional food, drinks, transport, or other purchases are paid directly by attendees unless otherwise stated.
Please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for playing on the bowling green. As this is an outdoor activity, we recommend checking the weather beforehand and dressing appropriately.
