Walk & Talk on Genderqueer City Histories

I don't know why I came, but I'm here // a walk&talk format on genderqueer city histories. Meeting point each time at Karl-Heinrich-Ulrichs-Platz, directly in front of Theater Rampe. We ask for an informal registration by email to: erinnerungskultur@stuttgart.de. A city walk between the Bohnenviertel and the city center, between the 16th century and an indeterminate future. On an immersive journey into the past, we will imagine queer Stuttgart together. We will follow the traces of three figures from three centuries who have broken the boundaries of binary gender in Stuttgart. They will accompany us on our search for all the fragments that run through Stuttgart's city history. The archive is not friendly to those who cannot be squeezed into categories. Between the documents, there are gaps. The project Fragments of a Gap invites us to fill these gaps together on this city walk by imagining the stories we cannot find otherwise. With and by: Y Witte (he/they) works as an artist and performer at the intersection of performance, research, and music in Stuttgart and Berlin. His work explores how social norms shape bodies and identities, and how these can be changed with queer interventions and subversive strategies.
