About this place Hotel de la Poste

Hotel de la Poste is a long-established hotel on Piazza Roma in the centre of Cortina d'Ampezzo, open since the 19th century. It is a mainstream hotel listed as gay-friendly, not a gay venue. Its street-facing terrace is a classic aperitivo spot, and Corso Italia, the main shopping street, is a minute away. It holds a 4.2 Google rating from about 820 reviews. Rooms are traditional in style. Cortina is busiest and most expensive in the ski season and in August, so book early for those periods.

We were in this hotel 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. This is a busy tourist town and this hotel, with its gracious staff, is smack dab in the middle of the action.

We came here for the food... And we were disappointed. Our Margherita pizzas were colder than lukewarm, but since we waited a long time for them, we didn't complain. However, the dirty cutlery was a real issue. The waiter who came to our table wasn't friendly and didn't try to understand. A few minutes later, a young woman came and explained things clearly; she was understanding. The pizzas were good, but nothing special. I wouldn't recommend it.

Very central and a lifelong point of reference. A bit constrained on some things.

Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations for a hotel of this category. The concierge we'd been told was dedicated wasn't really available when we needed him. The main issue was the garage, with a very difficult bottleneck to negotiate independently, for which we'd been promised assistance every time. In reality, there was often no one available to help us, limiting our travel options during our stay. The numerous abrasions and visible damage to the garage walls confirm how critical the maneuvers are. The layout of the rooms, which faced inward, also fell short of expectations. Overall, the service and assistance were not commensurate with the quality and price of the property.
