Erik Valenčič: Homage to Ukraine – Journeys Through War 2022–2025

Erik Valenčič is an award-winning independent investigative journalist, war correspondent, writer, and documentary film director. He has long closely followed wars and their consequences, primarily in the Middle East and Africa.
A few days after the Russian forces invaded Ukraine in February 2022, he traveled to the invaded country, which he visited five times by 2025. He decided not only to report on the war this time but also to help the side he understood as attacked and weaker. He delivered humanitarian aid to Ukraine, while also getting to know its inhabitants and other volunteers along the way. He observed how the war was (slowly) changing them.
We will talk with him about his journalistic work, his latest book titled Homage to Ukraine – Journeys Through War 2022–2025, his activism, and the artistic-environmental project Guardians of Rivers.
