About the event

15TH INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL DOKUDOC
September 10–13, 2026 | Maribor Puppet Theatre
PHOTOGRAPHER
Friday, September 11, at 4:00 PM in the Grand Hall of the Maribor Puppet Theatre
▶️Synopsis:
The documentary film PHOTOGRAPHER reveals the extraordinary story of amateur photographer Peter Naglič, who took over 10,000 photographs in the first half of the 20th century. In seemingly everyday scenes, Naglič recognized exciting attractions and photographed them as photo-stories, even before the advent of modern photojournalism. He equipped the photos with location tags, dates, and descriptions of motifs on the back, thus placing them in the context of time and space. Peter Naglič thus captured the birth of modern Slovenian identity in his photographs. With the help of artificial intelligence applications, we, along with the creators from the British studio Untold Garden, have also brought some of Naglič's photographs to life, thus creating Slovenian historical "film clips" in the documentary that were never actually shot.
Dokudoc in cooperation with the 11th Maribor Photography Festival – Fotoklub Maribor.
