What happens when two people from completely different worlds meet? And what happens when a writer, an actress, a moderator, a DJ, and the audience meet?
To celebrate the release of the novel Where the Doe Runs (Mladinska knjiga, 2026), this year's winner of the Blue Bird Award, you are invited to a literary evening with the author Maja B. Kranjc. Saso Puljarevic will discuss the creation of the novel, its characters, and writing about a world marked by war, privilege, and the search for belonging with the author. Excerpts from the novel will be interpreted by actress Diana Kolenc, and DJ Ilc will provide the musical atmosphere for the evening.
Where the Doe Runs (Mladinska knjiga, 2026) is a novel about the collision of two worlds. It focuses on the stories of a high school girl who runs away from home and a refugee from the Middle East who flees to Europe to escape war. Their fates unexpectedly intertwine, and through their encounter, the novel opens questions of identity, responsibility, compassion, and boundaries – those on the map and those we carry within ourselves.
Maja B. Kranjc is a clinical psychologist, dramaturge, poet, and writer. Where the Doe Runs is her third published work – after the poetry collection "Mreža na dlani" and the novel "Klopotec".
