▶️Synopsis:
He Who Does Not Jump explores how Slovenes began to perceive themselves as a nation through sport – first with skiing and ski jumping, and later with football. Through the personal story of the author, who came to Slovenia from Bosnia, the film reveals how sporting successes became the foundation of national self-confidence, largely as a contrast to Yugoslav identity. Through archival footage, personal anecdotes, and social reflections, the film exposes how a nation is built through cheering, and what (and whom) we leave aside in the process. He Who Does Not Jump is a film about the ups and downs of national consciousness, about the power and danger of collective emotions, and about the question: what does it mean to be Slovenian today, and can sport still carry this burden?
