Co-Habitation at the Confluence – Opening of Laura Ličer's exhibition

You are cordially invited to the opening of the painting exhibition "Sobitja na sotočju" (Co-Habitation at the Confluence). Laura Ličer is a self-taught painter who builds a distinctly recognizable creature-patterned universe, intertwining painting, illustration, ornament, and fantasy narrative. Her compositions are characterized by saturated colors, emphasized black contours, flatness, a multitude of small patterns, and an almost complete absence of empty space. The fantastical creatures with large eyes are not just decorative figures, but inhabitants of a complex visual ecosystem where humans, animals, plants, and imaginary organisms constantly transform into one another. It is precisely the rejection of the "less is more" principle that gives her work its character: instead of reduction, she chooses abundance, instead of emptiness, pattern, and instead of a realistic world, she creates her own, immediately recognizable visual mythology.
The exhibition will feature a selection of 25 paintings in acrylic on canvas. In approximately 17 years of creation, around 600 paintings of various dimensions and 45 illustrated books have been created, as well as the "Mačji tarok" (Cat Tarot) playing cards, puzzles, and wall paintings.
