More than three decades after its formation, Taake remains one of the most important forces in Norwegian black metal. They have never followed trends, never looked for shortcuts. Their music grows from solitude, nature, and Hoest's uncompromising creative vision, the band's only constant.
The new album En Skog av Nidstang continues the path laid out by the excellent Et Hav av Avstand. Four long tracks, recorded in the forests south of Bergen, sound raw, dark, and timeless. No studio polish – just intuition, atmosphere, and Taake's recognizable sound.
Fierce black metal is interrupted by cold melodies, slow, dark transitions, and moments of complete silence before a new outbreak. After 33 years, Taake remains exactly what they have always been – unique, uncompromising, and still among the strongest voices of Norwegian black metal.
