The mural Security Risk Area?, currently in progress, is a collectively designed portrait of a part of the community of the Autonomous Cultural Center Metelkova mesto. It consists of images of people who co-create, use, or are connected to the space in various ways. The authors invited friends and various users of the space to contribute by drawing a self-portrait or a portrait of a friend. Thus, a mosaic of images is created from individual drawings, through which Metelkova is shown from the perspective of the people who use it, co-create it, or are otherwise connected to it. Instead of a representative image of the entire community, the mural builds a mosaic of different faces, stories, and relationships. This diversity reflects one of Metelkova's essential characteristics: its character is determined not only by buildings or institutions, but by the people who use it, co-create it, and constantly shape it through their relationships.
The title Security Risk Area? refers to the police decision in January 2026 to declare Park Tabor, parts of Kotnikova street, and Metelkova street with its surroundings as a security risk area based on the so-called Šutara law. The mural does not respond to this administrative designation by denying problems, but by shifting the perspective.
