About the event

Guided tour with mag. Miran Pflaum and Tomislav Kajfež
As part of the international conference Europe Meets Egypt, we invite you to a guided tour of the Egyptian Collection at the National Museum of Slovenia.
The Egyptian Collection at the National Museum of Slovenia is one of the oldest collections, formed shortly after the establishment of the Provincial Museum of Carniola in 1821. It was primarily formed through donations from wealthy patriots: merchants, travelers, missionaries, high state officials, and diplomats. In 1846, Baron Anton pl. Lavrin, the Austrian Consul General in Egypt, donated an Egyptian mummy in a painted wooden anthropomorphic coffin to the then Provincial Museum in Ljubljana. Most of the small figurines were bequeathed to the museum by Jožef Švegel in his will in 1912.
Join mag. Miran Pflaum and Tomislav Kajfež from the National Museum of Slovenia on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 5 PM at the National Museum of Slovenia (Muzejska 1, Ljubljana).
The tour is free of charge; advance registration is not required.
