About this place Ely House Hotel

An independent 18-room hotel in a Georgian building on Tettenhall Road, just past Chapel Ash on the western side of the centre. Listings describe the building as a former girls' school from around 1742; it was renovated in 2007. Rooms are individually decorated, breakfast is cooked to order, and there is a small bar and free parking on site. The city centre is about a ten-minute walk, and West Park and Molineux are both close. It suits people who want a quiet base rather than a chain. Mainstream hotel, not a gay venue.

The Ely House Hotel in Wolverhampton delivered a genuinely impressive stay. Breakfast was fantastic — fresh, hot, and far better than the usual hotel standard. The service was spot‑on, with staff who were welcoming, attentive, and actually seemed to care that guests were comfortable. Rooms were clean, tidy, and well looked after, with that “someone’s paid attention here” feel rather than the usual rushed hotel turnover. The whole place has a warm, homely atmosphere that makes it stand out from chain hotels. Overall, a brilliant stay with great staff, great food, and a hotel that clearly takes pride in what it does. Would happily return.

Had a lovely overnight stay at Ely House Hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly without being invasive. The room was clean and comfortable- and plenty of hot water. The full English breakfast was filling and set us up for the rest of the day exploring the Midlands. Will go again.

Ideal for visiting Wightwick Manor National Trust property. Immaculate clean rooms, comfortable beds and quiet (at the back). Substantial well-cooked full English breakfast served by friendly staff.

I’m so confused by the top reviews at this hotel. I had messaged the hotel in advance to let them know I’d likely be earlier than check in (I also emailed separately to ask for earlier check in and had no response) so I could park my car and hopefully use the facilities to change as I was attending the festival over the road and wouldn’t be able to check in until I’d left the festival. After a 3 hour drive and driving round in circles to find the car park, I rang on the bell 4-5 times with no answer, I also had no phone signal in the area so couldn’t get through to the numbers stuck on the door. I got changed in my car in the car park. Later in the evening I got a call to ask if I was coming and what time so I had a specify a time which I thought was odd. The room itself was fine but not having anyone on reception and having to specify exact times is not something I’ve ever experienced and I was worried that I’d be sleeping in my car if somebody wasn’t there. At check out I left around 9.30am and again there was knowone on the desk. I left the key on the desk, front door wide open and I left. Maybe I visited them on a bad day!
