Gay bars in Eugene: the honest 2026 picture
Eugene doesn't have a gay bar. Spectrum, the city's last dedicated LGBTQ+ bar at 375 E 7th Ave, closed on 11 August 2024 (KLCC, OPB), and as of October 2026 nothing has opened in its place. An April 2026 Lookout Eugene-Springfield piece on the local drag scene said the same. What Eugene has instead is one bar that has become the queer default, a gay-friendly dance bar downtown, and monthly parties.
The Sparrow & Serpent (Whiteaker)
The Sparrow & Serpent, 211 Washington St, is in the old Old Nick's Pub building. The owner calls it a goth, Dungeons & Dragons and queer bar. In Eugene Weekly's Best of Eugene 2025–26 poll it won Best Queer Gathering Spot, and its drag brunch with Maliena won Best Drag Brunch. It's also the home of CHUB, a monthly queer dance party with DJ Enriquedamnit, which has hosted the official Eugene Pride after-party. Other nights include bingo, goth swaps and touring bands, so check @sparrowandserpent for the month's schedule.
Cowfish (downtown)
Cowfish, 62 W Broadway, is a small dance bar (Google now lists it as Cowfish Cafe and Lounge). It has had a queer following for years, and Eugene Weekly readers once voted its drag nights among the city's best. We couldn't find a named queer night there in 2025 or 2026, so think of it as gay-friendly, not gay.

Crow & Cart (543 Blair Blvd) and Jameson's (115 W Broadway) were runners-up for Best Queer Gathering Spot in the 2025–26 poll. That's a single source, so we don't list them as queer venues. The WOW Hall (291 W 8th Ave) hosts occasional queer dance nights, including a Queer Choir party that opened Pride week in June 2026.
Closed or changed
- Spectrum (375 E 7th Ave): closed August 2024.
- 255 Madison: a newer queer bar that closed suddenly in March 2024 (Lookout Eugene-Springfield).
- Luckey's Club (933 Olive St): still a downtown bar with karaoke and pool, but its monthly G.L.A.M. drag show ended in 2015 and we found no queer programming since, so it's no longer in our listings.
- Dirty Pop: a New York and Atlanta party brand, not a Eugene night.
- The Whiteaker is northwest of downtown, about a 15-minute walk from Broadway. Buses, Uber and Lyft all work for late nights.
- The drinking age is 21, and bars check photo ID. Dress is casual everywhere.
- Pride (late June, Lane Events Center) is the busiest queer weekend of the year, and CHUB usually throws the after-party.
Beyond the bars
The Lavender Network, 1590 Willamette St, is Lane County's LGBTQ+ community center. It opened in February 2026 and has weekday drop-in hours, 9 to 5. Several weekly community events meet there, and the Queer Eugene calendar on our Eugene events page lists something most days. There's no gay sauna or men's club in Lane County. Portland, about two hours north on I-5, is the nearest city with dedicated gay bars.
