Women's March Nieuw-West: together for safe streets
On Sunday, October 4th, the Women's March Nieuw-West will take place. Women, girls, LGBTIQA+ individuals, and allies will come together to speak out against street harassment and for safety, freedom, and equality.
This year, the march starts at Garage Notweg, the location where QueerHub Nieuw-West is also based. We find that meaningful. QueerHub is joining as a solidarity partner and is happy to open its doors as the starting point of the march.
Women, girls, and LGBTIQA+ individuals do not form a single group and each have their own experiences, perspectives, and needs. At the same time, we share the right to move through the city safely and freely and to be ourselves. Solidarity does not mean that we are the same, but that we stand by each other when safety and equality are under pressure.
Different experiences, shared struggle. Stronger together.
Program
We start at Garage Notweg (1st floor) by making banners, protest signs, and T-shirts. At 2:00 PM, we will walk together to the Tuinstadhuis. There, we will discuss various statements. Afterwards, there will be space for a chat with a snack and a drink.
Why this march?
Many women, girls, and LGBTIQA+ individuals do not always feel free and safe on the street, not even in Nieuw-West. With this march, we show that everyone has the right to safety, freedom, and equality.
