Belt It Out | Gay Karaoke Night – Mel

MIC CHECK, DIVAS. THE GAYS ARE TAKING OVER BENJY’S AGAIN! 🎤🪩💅
Back by wildly popular demand, we’re heading back to Benjy’s Karaoke Bar for another private MGSC sing-off, and if you’ve been to one of our previous karaoke nights, you’ll know this is NOT your average Saturday night.
We’re talking a karaoke bar full of queers, an aggressively ambitious playlist, pop diva anthems, wildly confident vocals (regardless of actual talent), and the kind of chaos that only happens when you put a microphone in front of a room full of gays.
And yes, babes, we’ve got the venue all to ourselves for TWO FULL HOURS!
That’s two hours to work through the approximately four hours of songs we’ll inevitably queue. Because apparently every gay in Melbourne has been waiting their entire life for their moment to perform Pink Pony Club.
Expect everything from Britney and Beyoncé to ABBA, Gaga, Chappell Roan, and whatever completely unexpected throwback someone decides deserves its moment in the spotlight.
Pitch-perfect vocals? Optional.
Dramatic hand gestures? Encouraged.
Knowing every word to the chorus? Absolutely essential (just kidding).
BUT FIRST, PRE-DRINKS! 🍸
We’ll be kicking off the evening at Mr Wilkinson from 6pm, giving everyone a chance to grab a drink, meet the group, and warm up those vocal cords before the main event.
Then at 7pm, we’ll head over to Benjy’s Karaoke Bar for our private takeover.
With the entire venue reserved for MGSC members, there’s no awkward singing in front of random strangers. Just a room full of fabulous queers cheering each other on, singing their hearts out, and collectively losing their minds when someone chooses the perfect throwback anthem.
The mic is first-in, first-served, so whether you’re planning a full solo performance, recruiting a duet partner, or simply providing extremely enthusiastic backing vocals from the crowd, there’s room for everyone.
Coming solo? PERFECT! Most of our members do, and karaoke is one of the easiest ways to make new mates. Adeline will be there from 6pm to welcome everyone, make introductions, and help you settle in before we head to Benjy’s together.
And if singing isn’t your thing? Babe, every pop star needs an audience. There’s absolutely no pressure to take the mic. Come along for the atmosphere, cheer on your fellow members, and enjoy a Saturday night with the gays.
Once our private session wraps up, you’re welcome to kick on with your new karaoke besties and keep the Saturday night going.
This one has sold out before, and with limited spots available, we wouldn’t recommend leaving your ticket until the last minute.
Two hours. One karaoke bar. A room full of gays who all think they’re the main character.
The voice might be questionable, but the performance? ICONIC. 🎤🌈
