About the event

The Vienna Drag Festival opens with a panel discussion exploring why Drag is still not officially recognized as an art form in Austria. The discussion will also address the international political context, including Drag bans in the USA, as well as disruptions by right-wing extremists and FPÖ politicians at queer events such as children’s book readings. The panel brings together politicians, activists, and queer personalities for an in-depth conversation.
