Stand Up Workshop for FLINTA*

Together with Schwessi, founder of the queer-feminist stand-up event series SMASH COMEDY, we invite you to discover your funny side! In a two-day workshop, Schwessi, supported by Jasmin Kettana, will introduce you to the art of stand-up. In a safe environment, you will experiment with how comedy works without racist clichés, ableism, sexism, etc. – and how you can make the audience laugh with your own stories and experiences. The workshop ends with a small showcase, embedded in a SMASH show at Haus 73, where you can try yourself out in front of an audience for the first time – if you want to. SMASH COMEDY is the answer to the white, cis male, and heteronormative comedy scene. Schwessi helps FLINTA* people & Queers to break into the German comedy scene. She also works as a songwriter, lyricist, and seminar leader for empathic conflict resolution. Jasmin is the founder and host of the Burning Mic Show, the first English-language stand-up open mic in Hamburg, and has been performing as a comedian throughout Germany for many years – from NightWash to Falsch aber Lustig. Both are looking forward to sharing their experiences and supporting new comedians in gaining their first stage experience. The workshop is aimed at all non-cis-male individuals. No proof is required, and everyone who feels addressed is welcome.
