The Saguaro Palm Springs

Terrible experience filled with vermin like cockroaches and a lack of service from staff even when requested numerous times. Stay away if you like sleep bug free

We stayed in the two-bedroom suite for four nights over a holiday weekend after hearing The Saguaro was known for its pool scene. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the reputation. When we checked in, the room had a strong musty smell and the carpet felt damp. At first glance the room looked clean, but a closer inspection told a different story. There was visible mold growing in the bathtub, and overall it didn’t feel like the room had been thoroughly maintained. Even more disappointing, housekeeping never serviced our room during our entire stay despite multiple requests. We eventually had to track down our own towels and supplies. The biggest letdown was the pool. It’s the main reason we booked this hotel, but the pool water had an unpleasant odor and didn’t appear particularly clean. Many of the lounge chairs and daybeds were in rough shape, with rusty frames and ripped, stained cushions. There was only one server trying to cover the pool area, so service was nearly nonexistent. It took 47 minutes to get drinks from the bar, and while the staff seemed overwhelmed, they were never particularly friendly or engaging. To make matters worse, the hotel ran out of pool towels every day. We were actually told it’s best to bring our own towels if we planned to spend time at the pool. The towels that were available were thin, stained, and well past the point of being replaced. The DJ played good music, but this wasn’t the lively pool party experience we expected. Because food and beverage service was so limited, many guests brought in coolers with their own food and alcohol, which made the atmosphere feel more like a day at the lake than a destination pool. At night, people wandered the courtyards and parking lot drinking and being loud well into the evening, making it difficult to fully relax. One thing worth mentioning is the location. If you’re hoping to walk to downtown Palm Springs, restaurants, or shopping, this probably isn’t the best choice. You’ll likely find yourself driving or using rideshare to get almost anywhere. The best part of our stay was the comfort of the room. The beds and pillows were genuinely comfortable, and we slept well every night. This hotel has a fun concept and could be a great destination with some attention to detail. Better housekeeping, improved maintenance, additional pool staff, and more consistent cleanliness would make a significant difference. Based on our experience, though, I wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed at The Saguaro Palm Springs from July 3–6, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had. We understand this is a more budget-friendly property and weren’t expecting luxury, but we did expect basic cleanliness and service. During our entire three-night stay, housekeeping never serviced our room once. We had to track down fresh towels ourselves, and even those were disappointing. The pool towels were thin, stained, and looked worn out, and the pool itself was visibly dirty. There was a film of hair, dirt, and white sunscreen floating across the surface throughout the weekend. At one point I even tried using the skimmer myself, only to find that the skimmer was broken and the net was barely attached. The property as a whole feels very neglected. The hotel is extremely dated, carpeting is lifting in multiple areas, and we found black mold underneath the soap holder in our bathroom, which was unacceptable. Service was equally disappointing. On Friday afternoon after driving in from Las Vegas, we sat by the pool hoping to order lunch. We asked a server for a menu, and they simply never came back. We eventually gave up. The colorful exterior and fun branding make for great photos, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. Between the lack of housekeeping, poor maintenance, dirty pool, and nonexistent service, we would not stay here again. There are far better options in the Palm Springs area, even at a similar price point.

I stayed here twice. The first time it was nice. The second time they sold tickets to a pool party and let people absolutely trash the place. It was disgusting and they made no effort at all to clean it. I wouldn’t stay here again. A lot of other nicer places at the same price point.

Miss Glinda at the front from pt of contact made checkin easy, beyond great customer service. I haven’t back PS in almost 10+ years and reminded how much I loved this hotel and here

I didn’t even get to stay here — I couldn’t believe how complicated it was to make a reservation here. I did it twice online from their website and got no confirmation email. Called the first time and kept getting the run around and nobody could help me and just suggested I try again. So i did that morning and waited the whole day to get an email so when I didn’t, I called the next day and they said they needed to get someone who “worked there longer” to figure it out. Told me they’d call me back and let me know and confirm my reservation and nobody ever called me back or left a voicemail. The next day I had to call back AGAIN and they finally found it and acted like it was no big deal that I’ve had this run around. No apology or anything and explained to me they are having IT issues and “nobody’s reservations” were going through. You mean to tell me nobody who works there thought it was weird you didn’t have any reservation requests at your hotel for almost FOUR DAYS? From YOUR OWN WEBSITE? So finally that person I spoke to had to email me my confirmation from *HER OWN PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS.* From that point I decided to just look somewhere else, so I found something for the same price and had no issues booking and an immediate confirmation email. What a wonder. So when I called to cancel THEY STILL COULDNT FIND MY RESERVATION??? I wish I was joking and I told them this is exactly why I’m cancelling in the first place. Nobody was apologetic, nobody knows what they’re doing here. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all if I didn’t even have a good experience and I haven’t even gotten there yet.

Room 235 Big stain in carpet. For the cost it should have been perfect. Also I was woken up at 4am to someone bouncing a basket ball it the room above. I for sure won't be back. I was hoping to have a great experience because of the hotels socials. I would pass on this spot if you're looking.

Hugo was the best bartender! He made great suggestions and was very accommodating. The pool and room were good as well.

The building and colors are so typical of Palm Springs. I stayed without meals included, but it was great because there was a gym on-site. It's an area that's fun just to walk around and look at the architecture.

Great location but this place seriously needs a clean or refresh. The carpets throughout create a bad smell. I did see dead cockroaches in the halls. Towels need replacing. The wifi is terrible. The pool staff guys were great! But the pool deck is not that clean and you have to pay to sit next to the pool. The pool side is very loud but I guess It’s a party hotel.

This hotel is extremely dated, the common areas require some TLC. The beds around the pool have rusted out bottoms with several broken umbrellas. This hotel services their pool clientele more than their hotel guests. The premium real estate cabanas and day side beds are for rent leaving you as a hotel guest with less desirable real estate. The carpeting in the rooms and hallways weren’t clean. If you want a relaxing holiday, this isn’t your destination of choice, loud music and thin walls can make it challenging to unplug. Rooms are only serviced by request. I frequent Palm Springs fairly often and think there are other properties in a similar price range that offer a better experience.
