Ferndale Pride 2026
About This Event
Ferndale Pride is Motor City Pride's smaller, neighborhood counterpart. It happens every June on Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, the suburb that's been Detroit's main gay neighborhood for decades. Motor City Pride is a big civic event at downtown's Hart Plaza. Ferndale Pride is a street festival on the block where the community actually lives and hangs out: right outside Affirmations, near Rosie O'Grady's. This neighborhood has been the heart of Detroit's LGBTQ+ scene since the 1970s.
About 15,000 people come to Nine Mile Road for an afternoon and evening of live performances, community organization stalls, and food vendors. It's a different kind of Pride, more intimate than the downtown event, more connected to the everyday life of the community it celebrates. If you want to see Ferndale's character as a gay neighborhood, not just a place with bars, Ferndale Pride shows it best.
