Ferndale Pride

Ferndale Pride is Metro Detroit's main Pride street festival. It's held in Ferndale, the small suburb just north of Detroit's 8 Mile Road that has long been the area's most gay-friendly downtown. For one day the festival closes West Nine Mile Road and fills it with stages and vendor booths, and the bars along the strip spill out onto the street.

It's free, all-ages and lasts a single day; the 2026 edition ran from 12:30 to 10 pm. The original plan for 2027 called for 187 booths and three stages. Most visitors stay in Detroit or nearby suburbs and drive or take a rideshare in. Parking in central Ferndale fills up quickly, so arrive early.

The 16th annual festival took place on Saturday 30 May 2026. The local paper Woodward Talk reported that thousands came, and no official count was released. Event director Julia Music called the day "very peaceful and in a great mood." The 2027 festival will move out of its usual early-summer slot because the city is repaving West Nine Mile Road in spring 2027. Organizers told WXYZ Detroit they have rescheduled it for Saturday 7 August 2027.
