A second cluster sits downtown, where a new arrival has brought gay nightlife back to the urban core. This is not a dense "gayborhood" of back-to-back clubs; it's a short list of beloved rooms you can hop between by rideshare.

Incahoots
Incahoots on Edison Avenue is Jacksonville's flagship LGBTQ+ dance club and has been a fixture of the local scene for decades. With multiple bars, a dance floor and regular drag and go-go entertainment, it's the closest thing the city has to a big-night-out gay club. Weekends are busiest, when the DJs and shows draw the widest crowd.
Park Place Lounge
A neighborhood gay bar in Riverside since 1992, Park Place Lounge is one of Jacksonville's oldest continuously operating LGBTQ+ venues. It's a friendly video-and-music bar with a patio, karaoke and bingo nights, and a loyal regular crowd that spans a broad age range — a good spot for a relaxed drink and easy conversation.
Hardwicks
Opened downtown in 2023, Hardwicks bills itself as Downtown Jacksonville's LGBTQIA+ bar and was the city's first new gay bar in roughly two decades. It brings a fresh, inclusive energy to the East Adams Street corridor with rotating programming — drag, karaoke and Latin nights among them — and has quickly become part of the core scene.
Birdies (gay-friendly)
Birdies, in Five Points, is a well-loved neighborhood bar that isn't a dedicated gay venue but is firmly LGBTQ+-friendly, hosting a recurring monthly Gay Night. It's a laid-back, unpretentious spot popular with a younger, mixed crowd.
Eclipse (gay-friendly)
Eclipse in Riverside draws an alternative, goth-leaning crowd and welcomes a queer audience, most visibly at its recurring Pineapple Party. Like Birdies, it's a gay-friendly mixed venue rather than a dedicated gay bar, and a fun change of pace from a traditional bar night.
A Note on the City's Gay-Bar History
Jacksonville has lost several landmark venues in recent years, so don't be surprised if older guides mention places that are gone. Bo's Coral Reef at Jacksonville Beach — long the area's oldest gay bar — closed in 2019, the Metro complex in Riverside closed in 2021, and the Westside leather bar Boot Rack Saloon closed in 2024. Those closures are part of why the current scene is compact; the venues above are the ones still standing.
