About the event

Writers of all genres, join us as we turn up the party lights for Hive Mind’s monthly open mic night. For queer and trans writers. Writers of all genres, join us as we turn up the party lights for Hive Mind’s monthly open mic night. This mic is specifically for queer and trans writers. All genres are welcome. Poets, journalists, novelists, memoirists, whatever you write, you’re welcome at the mic. Give us your sci fi, your autofiction, your flash pieces sitting in a drawer, whatever you’ve got. There is no pressure to be perfect. Bring your work in progress or your polished piece, whatever you feel like reading, and share your work in a supportive environment. Writers of all levels are welcome. Sign up list opens at 6:30pm and is first come, first served. We start at 7pm. Each reader has 5 minutes. Free to attend and to participate. Allies are welcome in the audience to cheer on the performers. Our coffee bar will be open for the duration of the mic. (Please note that we won’t steam milk or grind beans during anyone’s reading, though!) RSVP’ing does NOT equal signing up to read. To sign up, you have to be here in person. Hive Mind Books is a queer and trans bookstore and coffee shop in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We are located off of the Dekalb Ave (L), Myrtle-Wyckoff (L/M), and Knickerbocker (M) subway stations. Our coffee and tea bar will be open for the duration of this event.
