About this place Black's Beach

Black's Beach stretches below the Torrey Pines cliffs in La Jolla, one of the largest clothing-optional beaches in North America. The northern, state-managed section has long drawn a gay crowd, and the stretch just below the Glider Port is the unofficial gay gathering spot. It's a wide, dramatic beach reached by a steep trail down the bluffs, so bring water and sun protection — there are no facilities. Nudity is tolerated on the northern state-park end; the southern, city-managed portion no longer permits it. Expect a mix of nudists, surfers, and sunbathers, with the queer scene concentrated at the north end.

Should be clearly posted at the main hiking trail down to the beach that this is a CLOTHING OPTIONAL beach and not for children. The beach itself is beautiful and the ocean is magnificent!

We were just looking for a place to see the sunset on our first evening in San Diego. I did not realize until after the fact this place was so controversial, or a nudist beach at all! We did not see any nudity, but we were there on a February evening, so most people we saw were there to see the sunset (plus a few surfers). We didn't go down to the beach itself, but rather some of the trails/cliffs that were by the Torrey Pines Gliderport. There are many signs about the unstable cliffs, and the trails were definitely a 'go at your own risk'. We did not want to go all the way down to the beach, but we did have a beautiful view of the sunset over the ocean, the cliffs along the beach and the city in the distance.

Honestly this experience was really pretty with my boyfriend and we were just trying to get cross off a “buck list” date. However, I got in the nude and that had to end quickly as a pervert constantly moved his towel CLOSER TO US in a span of 20 minutes and then took photos or videos of me not discreetly at all!!! There should be a 0 tolerance of photography at this beach. I had to put my sweater on immediately and left with my boyfriend. I don’t recommend going here without a safe friend. Keep aware of your surroundings.

Was a great experience. It feels awesome walking naked ôn the beach. I will be going back. Be careful the first few times so you don't burn the goodies

Went on a Tuesday wasn’t packed and a random couple just started doing so much creepy stuff infront of us sexually ( me a girl and my partner ) we been together 5 years so we just brushed it off …. We left and they left at the same time we were so sacred it was our first time naked and that made us very uncomfortable….the guy and girl covered themselves with two umbrellas on the side the guy had a beared and the girl didn’t even seem into it lol they did it a good 20 minutes

Such a great beach. Warm water. About 2 miles to walk or run. Incredible experience. We are there often. It is worth the hike

Went to blacks beach as a teenager and was isolated, remote, and few people. Wonderful! How things have changed; last two weeks I’ve witnessed men having sex with one another. Park Rangers and life guards do doing about it. But you better not smoke or drink beer! Stay away.

Alot of you just like to complain. If you dont want gawkers, then don't go. Or go nude in your yard. Everytime I go the women watch me but I don't complain. The double standards with you women are wild.

This is a beautiful beach, but you might not want to wander to the North section as this is the area where nudity is allowed, unless that's your thing. Only saw a couple of nude women, but there is an abundance of nude males walking around that had obviously taken Viagra before their visit. Kind of creepy. The hike down the cliff by the gilder port is a little difficult, and the hike back up is even more tricky, especially if it's hot and the sun is beating down on you. Be sure to take plenty of water. If you take your time, it's doable. Just know that there are other ways to and from the beach. If you're not a good climber or out of shape, use the easier ways, but don't miss this beach when in San Diego.
