About this place Beaulah bar

Beaulah, at 24 Somerset Road, is a mixed LGBTQ+ bar in Cape Town, a reliable place to start a night out.

It began as a lesbian bar, and while it still has a girl-power feel, the crowd is genuinely mixed now, with both women and men turning up. The name itself comes from local gay slang for "beautiful."

There’s a small dance floor and good music, making it a decent spot to get things going before you move on, or you can just settle in for the night. Its small size keeps the vibe friendly and easy, the kind of casual place where you can actually talk to people.

For current hours or event info, check their Facebook page. It's an unpretentious, real place to kick off your evening in Cape Town’s LGBTQ+ scene.

The staffs were really nice. I love the karaoke host. He made the whole place sing along and dance a long even though there weren’t many people there. Very talented. Gotta go there on the weekends. Can’t wait to go back.

On the hottest days because it was 36 - 37C, of available the LGB (T) places? By far this has the best and most widespread air conditioning! It has much more atmosphere than nearby venues in de Waterkant. There's live music and karaoke sometimes, which you can view for dates, on a poster outside. Sundays, they were dead quiet. There's a wide selection of alcoholic drinks I picked-up on.
