Steve Pineo and Laura Jackson
About the event
Longtime musical collaborators Steve Pineo and Laura Jackson bring decades of shared musical history together with a blues-focused mix of roots, soul and Canadiana.
A fixture of Calgary’s music scene for more than four decades, Pineo is a guitarist, singer and prolific songwriter whose music has crossed blues, roots, country, jazz and rock and roll. His songs have been recorded by artists including Paul Brandt and Prairie Oyster, and he was a member of the acclaimed Calgary roots group The Co-Dependents.
Pineo and Jackson’s musical relationship stretches back decades, performing together at Calgary venues including Mona’s Kitchen, Cannery Row, Kaos Cafe and The Wine Cellar.
Jackson has also been a longtime part of Pineo’s annual Christmas show. For this JazzYYC Canadian Festival performance, they draw on that shared history for a set rooted in the blues, joined by Garth Kennedy on keyboards and Jason Valleau on bass.
