About this place Jost Hôtel Montpellier

JOST Montpellier belongs to the JOST chain of hybrid hotel-hostels, which mix private rooms with shared dorms and a social lounge. It's listed as gay-friendly, but it's a mainstream property, not a gay venue. It's at 50 Rue Isabelle Eberhardt in the new Saint-Roch quarter behind the main railway station, so it's convenient for train arrivals, and the Écusson old town is within walking distance. Montpellier has one of France's more visible gay scenes for its size, with bars around the old center. It's rated 4.1 from about 1,400 Google reviews. Check your booking says dorm bed or private room, as the two are priced very differently.

The noise from the trains is unacceptable. Besides, at 1:00 AM, you could hear a gardener working in the station. The breakfast could be improved. And all this, and it's incredibly expensive? On the plus side, the lobby is nice and the rooftop terrace is pleasant, with a small pool and a bar. I don't recommend it. But if you do come, at least make sure the room you get is on the opposite side from the train tracks.

From the moment you arrive at the hotel, you feel right at home. The welcome is fantastic! The different spaces are beautifully designed, including a rooftop pool and a café/restaurant. The view is lovely both day and night. The guest experience is very well thought out! 🌴 Special mention for the delicious complimentary croissants in the morning! 🥐
