Gay Cruising in Berlin: The Honest 2026 Guide
Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and local and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change
The yellow U-Bahn rolls into Nollendorfplatz under the station's green dome, and the evening starts the Berlin way: a bottle of beer from the Späti, drunk on the pavement while the light goes. By ten the leather is out on Motzstraße and Fuggerstraße, men in harnesses and rubber queue at unmarked doors, and the bars of the Regenbogenkiez, the "rainbow neighbourhood", have the thick, warm smell of beer and smoke. Across the city, in the former power station by the Ostbahnhof that houses Berghain, the men of Lab.oratory are checking their gear at the cloakroom. Berlin's cruising scene is large, varied and almost entirely indoors: legal, licensed cruise bars and fetish clubs, many with strict dress codes and themed nights. You don't need the parks here.
Legal in one line: Germany has had same-sex marriage since 2017 and strong anti-discrimination law, and since November 2024 the Self-Determination Act (Selbstbestimmungsgesetz) lets adults change their legal gender by declaration; cruise bars, darkrooms and gay saunas are legal, licensed businesses. Sex in public is a different matter: under §183a StGB (Erregung öffentlichen Ärgernisses, "causing a public nuisance") sexual acts in public that deliberately or knowingly cause offence can bring a fine or up to a year in prison.
How Berlin cruising works
Berlin runs on themed nights. The same room can be a relaxed bar on Wednesday, a naked party on Sunday and a rubber-only night during a fetish weekend. Before you go, check the venue's own website or the listings in Siegessäule, the city's free queer magazine, which publishes the cruise and fetish programme week by week. Many clubs are men-only, and many enforce a dress code at the door (leather, rubber, sportswear, uniform, underwear or naked). The Türsteher checks your gear: at New Action, on Scheune's themed nights and at Lab.oratory's strict-dress-code nights you can be refused if you're not dressed for that night. If you're turned away for the wrong clothes, it isn't personal; come back in the right gear on the right night.

Schöneberg: Nollendorfplatz and the Regenbogenkiez
Schöneberg has been Berlin's gay neighbourhood since the 1920s, and the streets around U Nollendorfplatz (lines U1, U2, U3 and U4) still hold the city's densest cluster of cruise and fetish bars, all within a few minutes' walk. Start with a drink at Prinzknecht (Fuggerstraße 33), a big pub with an oval bar that fills with fetish men before the clubs open, or at Hafen (Motzstraße 19), a Schöneberg bar since 1990. Neither is a cruise venue; they are where the night starts.
Scheune
Scheune (Motzstraße 25) is one of the longest-running leather and fetish cruise bars in the neighbourhood and a regular meeting place of Berliner Leder und Fetisch e.V. (BLF), the association that runs Easter Berlin. Expect a bar, a play area and a rougher, old-school mood. Travel Gay lists it as open daily from 21:00, with themed fetish nights (rubber, skins, jeans, uniform) and naked parties on Sundays. Some nights are men-only with a strict dress code; in May 2026, for example, it hosted the rubber-only Rubber-Lust party during the German Rubberweekend. Check scheune-berlin.de for the week's dress code.
Boyberry Berlin
Boyberry (Motzstraße 19) took over the premises of Tom's Bar, a Schöneberg cruise bar that opened in 1982 and closed in early 2024. Boyberry opened in March 2024, run by the team behind the Boyberry cruise bars in Madrid and Barcelona. It's a men-only bar with a darkroom area; visitor reviews talk about the basement, a smoking room and a firm door policy. Hours aren't consistently listed, so check boyberry.com before you go.
New Action
New Action (Kleiststraße 35, at the corner of Eisenacher Straße) is a men-only leather and fetish cruise bar: a bar and tables at the front and a maze-like darkroom on the same floor. The dress code is strict and changes by night, with leather, rubber, workwear, sportswear or skin asked for at weekends. Travel Gay lists it as open from 22:00, Wednesday to Sunday, until 05:00 at weekends, though that listing was last updated in 2024; check newactionberlin.de first. Travel Gay also lists BULL, a small, men-only cruise and fetish bar with a darkroom, described as directly opposite New Action and open around the clock; we couldn't confirm its exact address or current hours, so ask locally.
Mutschmanns
Mutschmanns is a classic fetish cruise bar for leather, uniform and rubber fans, with a hardcore darkroom and play area. Travel Gay lists it on Martin-Luther-Straße 19, open Wednesday to Saturday, with non-fetish guests welcome on Wednesdays. The Berlin city guide place2be.berlin says it has relocated round the corner to Motzstraße 30. The listings disagree, so check its website or social media for the current address before you head out.
Woof
Woof (Fuggerstraße 37) is the bear cruise bar: bears, hairy men, leathermen, skins and daddies, with themed nights and drink offers and a darkroom. Travel Gay lists it as open daily from 18:00 to 04:00; check its socials for the week's themed nights and drink offers.
Cruising cinemas
Schöneberg also has gay shops with video cabins and cruising areas. Travel Gay lists The Jaxx (listed at Motzstraße 19, open since 1995) and Duplexx (Martin-Luther-Straße 14), both daily from 12:00 to 03:00. They're quieter in the afternoon and easy to drop into, but lists can lag behind, so check before you go.
Lab.oratory and Berghain
Lab.oratory (Am Wriezener Bahnhof, Friedrichshain; some directories give Rüdersdorfer Straße 70) is a men-only fetish and cruise club on the ground floor of the Berghain building, with its own entrance, a few minutes' walk from S Ostbahnhof. Travel Gay describes an industrial space with cages, slings and darkrooms. It celebrated 20 years with a party on 13 March 2026, and Siegessäule lists regular nights through 2026, including Labdance parties on Friday nights and sportswear afternoons on some Sundays from 16:00. Its own programme for October to December 2026 runs Thursday to Sunday: naked nights on Thursdays (fully naked, shoes only), mostly no-dress-code nights on Fridays, themed Saturdays such as the rubber-only Gummi, and Sunday afternoons from 16:00 with a strict mask, naked or sportswear code. Travel Gay warns that events often sell out. Check lab-oratory.de for the programme.
Berghain upstairs is a techno club, not a cruise bar, though it grew out of Berlin's gay club scene. It is known worldwide for its strict door and its no-photo rule. Bring the same manners to Lab.oratory: no photos, phone away, and don't take a "no" at the door personally.
Kreuzberg, Neukölln and beyond
Triebwerk
Triebwerk (Urbanstraße 64, Kreuzberg) is a men-only cruise club where clothes are usually left at the door, with underwear and naked nights. Travel Gay lists it as open Tuesday and Wednesday 20:00–04:00, Friday and Saturday 22:00–06:00 and Sunday 16:00–00:00, closed Monday and Thursday. It was still running its weekly "TriebSex" night in October 2026.
Böse Buben
Böse Buben (Sachsendamm 76–77, southern Schöneberg) has been running since 1997, which makes it one of the city's oldest gay fetish and cruise clubs. It specialises in S&M, with fight, sports and sneaker fetish parties alongside classic cruising. It's listed as closed Monday and Tuesday, open Wednesday 16:00–23:00, Thursday 19:00–01:00, Friday 20:00–02:00, Saturday 20:00–03:00 and Sunday from 15:00, with an after-work night on Wednesdays and Sneakfreaxx sportswear parties. It's out of the centre, so plan your route home.
Quälgeist
Quälgeist (Lankwitzer Straße 42/43, Tempelhof) is a volunteer-run BDSM club, organised as a registered association, with a bar, a smoking lounge and a play area of about 300 m². Tip Berlin describes men-only BDSM events several times a week, and Siegessäule lists workshops in 2026. Some events are for a specific group, others open to all; read the event description on quaelgeist.sm before you go. Treat this one as a club with its own rules, not a drop-in bar.
Ficken 3000 and Große Freiheit 114
Two more bars appear in Travel Gay's Berlin cruise list: Ficken 3000 (Urbanstraße 70, Kreuzberg), a bar with a darkroom open nightly from 22:00, and Große Freiheit 114 (Boxhagener Straße 114, Friedrichshain), a cruise bar with backrooms and cabins. Neither listing has been updated recently, so check before you go.
Mixed and all-genders venues
KitKatClub (Köpenicker Straße 76) has been a sex-positive fetish club for around 30 years, open to all genders with a strict dress code; its monthly Revolver party is aimed at gay men. Club Culture Houze (Görlitzer Straße 71, Kreuzberg) is a sex club for all genders with gay-men-only nights on some evenings; the days vary between listings, so check its programme first.
XXL, Prenzlauer Berg
XXL (Bornholmer Straße 7, Prenzlauer Berg) is a cruising cinema and club with video booths, cabins and a darkroom, listed by Travel Gay as open daily 12:00–02:00. In October 2026 it was still running its afternoon parties and a weekly cinema day.
The sauna
Der Boiler (Mehringdamm 34, Kreuzberg, U Mehringdamm on the U6 and U7) is a large, modern men's sauna, listed by Travel Gay at about 1,500 m² over three floors, with a Finnish sauna, steam room, whirlpool, darkrooms, cabins, a bar and a restaurant. It opens from noon on weekdays and runs round the clock from Friday to Sunday. Its website lists single tickets (towel and six hours included) at around €26 on weekdays and €29 at weekends and on public holidays at the time of writing, with €19 tickets for early birds (weekdays 12:00–14:00), night owls (from 22:00, Sunday to Thursday) and under-28s; event days cost more. Reviewers say late evenings are calmer. Visitor reviews from October 2026 confirm it's busy.
Closed: Tom's Bar (Motzstraße 19), a Schöneberg cruise bar since 1982, closed in early 2024. The premises are now Boyberry Berlin.
Couldn't confirm in 2025–2026: older guides also list a bar called Darkroom in Prenzlauer Berg and Stahlrohr. We found no current listings or events for either, so we've left them out. If you know they're open, tell us.
Outdoors: why we don't send you to the parks
Older listings, including some on this site, name Berlin parks as cruising areas. We don't give directions. The big parks are busy public spaces used by families, joggers, tourists and dog walkers; sex there can fall under §183a StGB, and at night you are an easy target for robbery. With dozens of legal cruise bars, clubs and a sauna across the city, there's no reason to take the risk.
Practical tips
- Bring cash. Plenty of Berlin bars and clubs still prefer or only take cash (Bargeld), for entry, the cloakroom and drinks. Don't count on a card at a cruise bar door.
- Getting home: on Friday and Saturday nights all U-Bahn lines except the U4 run through the night, and the S-Bahn runs all night at weekends and before public holidays. On weeknights, night buses (lines with an "N") take over, usually every 30 minutes, with some central routes more frequent. Check the BVG app or the VBB journey planner before you leave.
- Cloakroom and lockers: check your clothes, phone and wallet in at the Garderobe before you head into a darkroom. Keep your ticket safe.
- No photos: in every cruise club, the phone stays in your pocket or the locker.
- Consent: fetish nights have their own codes, but "no" is always enough, and you can always leave.
- Chems: if you see GHB/GBL around, never mix it with alcohol, never dose for someone else, and call 112 in an emergency.
- Apps: Romeo and Grindr are both widely used in Germany.
- Before the night: a Currywurst or a döner from a street stand and a beer from the Späti (late-night corner shop) is the classic, cheap Berlin start.
- Darkroom – same as in English. Kabine – cabin.
- Garderobe – cloakroom. Spind – locker.
- Eintritt – entry fee. Nur Barzahlung – cash only. Bargeld – cash.
- Nacktparty – naked party. Dresscode – what the door expects you to wear.
- Türsteher – doorman, the man who decides.
- Kiez – your neighbourhood; Regenbogenkiez – the "rainbow" quarter round Nollendorfplatz.
- Späti – late-night corner shop, for beer on the way.
- schwul – gay. Prost! – cheers.
Big weekends: Easter Berlin, Folsom Europe and Pride
Easter Berlin, the leather and fetish week run by Berlin Leder und Fetisch e.V., took place from 1 to 6 April 2026. It's centred on Schöneberg around Nollendorfplatz, Motzstraße and Fuggerstraße, with parties such as PiG, Rubber Lust and Sneakfreaxx, a fetish boat trip on the Spree and the German Mr. Leather contest. It follows Easter each year, and Easter Sunday 2027 is on 28 March; check the organisers' site for confirmed dates.
Folsom Europe 2026 ran from 10 to 13 September, with the street fair on Saturday 12 September on Fuggerstraße and Welserstraße. The weekend's parties included PiG, BearDance, Testosterone and Recon's closing party, and the street fair is run by a non-profit association that gives its proceeds to local charities. Book hotels early; every cruise bar in Schöneberg is packed that week.
The Lesbisch-schwules Stadtfest (the city's lesbian and gay street festival) fills the streets around Nollendorfplatz each July, on the weekend before Berlin's CSD (Pride) parade, and draws around 350,000 visitors. The 2027 dates haven't been announced yet; see the Berlin city page for updates.

Frequently asked questions
Where is gay cruising in Berlin?
Indoors, in dedicated cruise bars and fetish clubs. The densest cluster is in Schöneberg around Nollendorfplatz: Scheune and Boyberry on Motzstraße, New Action on Kleiststraße and Woof on Fuggerstraße, with Mutschmanns nearby. Further out are Lab.oratory in the Berghain building in Friedrichshain, Triebwerk in Kreuzberg, Böse Buben on Sachsendamm and the members' club Quälgeist in Tempelhof. Der Boiler on Mehringdamm is a large gay sauna.
Is Lab.oratory in Berlin still open?
Yes. Lab.oratory, the men's fetish and cruise club in the Berghain building at Am Wriezener Bahnhof, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a party on 13 March 2026, and Berlin's queer listings magazine Siegessäule shows regular nights through 2026, including Labdance parties on Friday nights and sportswear afternoons on some Sundays. Each night has its own theme and dress code, and popular nights can fill up, so check the programme first.
What happened to Tom's Bar in Berlin?
Tom's Bar at Motzstraße 19, a Schöneberg cruise bar since 1982, closed in early 2024. In March 2024 the same premises reopened as Boyberry Berlin, a men-only cruise bar run by the team behind the Boyberry venues in Madrid and Barcelona. Old guides that still send you to Tom's Bar mean Boyberry today.
Is outdoor cruising in Berlin's parks legal?
Not without risk. Under §183a of the German Criminal Code, sexual acts in public that deliberately or knowingly cause offence can be punished with a fine or up to a year in prison. Berlin's big parks are busy public spaces used by families, joggers and tourists, and they are where you are easiest to rob. GayOut doesn't give directions to outdoor spots; Berlin has plenty of legal indoor cruise venues, so use them.
When are Folsom Europe and Easter Berlin?
Folsom Europe 2026 ran from 10 to 13 September, with the street fair on Saturday 12 September on Fuggerstraße and Welserstraße in Schöneberg. Easter Berlin, the leather and fetish week run by Berlin Leder und Fetisch e.V., ran from 1 to 6 April 2026. Easter Berlin follows the Easter weekend, which in 2027 falls on 28 March; check the organisers' site for confirmed 2027 dates.
