Beautiful venue. Blossoms restaurant is lovely and staff really look after you. Rooms are a little tired but really clean. Don't leave the lights on and the windows open.... with it being close to water and being in nature... you will get lots of insects. .
Enjoyed a quick lunch here. Very comfortable interior, good menu and friendly staff.
No air-conditioning and no room service and no fridge in room. Have a yoga mat though!
A beautiful hotel in an idyllic location. Good food, excellent service. Very friendly staff.
Not a 4‑Star Spa Hotel If you are looking for a genuine 4‑star hotel and spa experience, Rutland Hall Hotel is not the right choice. With its incredible location, this property has huge potential, but it is currently let down by poor service, severe lack of maintenance, and a complete absence of luxury or attention to detail. I expected far more. Rutland Hall Hotel boasts a location to die for, with absolutely stunning views. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. The interiors completely undermine the natural beauty outside and fail to deliver anything close to a luxury or 4‑star experience. The décor throughout the buildings feels dated and poorly thought out, with clashing colours and a total lack of cohesion. Every reception room is dominated by highly visible fire extinguishers. While I fully appreciate safety requirements, there are far more discreet ways of integrating them without destroying the ambience. Reception staff appeared to be busy and came across as borderline rude, which set the tone on arrival. We were told to pay an extra £20 if we wanted to have early access to the room. You would expect to be offered the room as soon as available and not at a charge. The roomrate at booking was £225. The hotel seems to have only one restaurant, which feels far more like a pub or clubhouse than a hotel restaurant. Outdoor seating consisted of outdated, uncomfortable plastic garden furniture. I think important to mention that chair seats was worn out and no cushions on site. Inside, the atmosphere was chaotic, with too many waiters and no clear system, staff seemed unsure of who was doing what. Food was average at best and certainly not reflective of a high-end venue. Basic comforts such as pillows were also missing. The biggest disappointment was the so-called spa, which the hotel heavily promotes. Calling this a spa is misleading. It consists of a pool, two very small rooms (sauna and steam room), and little to none else. There is no sense of serenity or luxury. Cold showers did not work, floors were dirty, cobwebs were visible, and windows and doors were covered in limescale. The steam room had a distinctly mouldy smell, and there was no hose to rinse the seating for hygiene. I raised concerns with staff about cleanliness in steam room and the fact that guests were entering the pool straight from the sauna without showering. The response was dismissive and rude, with a comment that chlorine would “kill the bacteria.” This is not an acceptable response in a 4‑star venue, where basic hygiene and health standards should be maintained at all times. We also had spa treatments booked, only to discover that the pool/spa facilities are not connected to the treatment rooms. Guests are expected to walk across the hotel in wet swimwear. No bathrobes are provided—something that would make a huge difference to comfort and overall experience. The treatment itself was disappointing. No disposable underwear is provided, leaving you in wet swimwear. A simple request to omit the head massage became an issue, with the therapist suggesting the treatment would be shortened. The massage felt rushed and basic—more of an oily rub than a professional treatment. And it did not add to the relaxation that a blue tooth alarm kept going off over speaker system. Our standard room was extremely small, with an even smaller bed for two people. Amenities you would expect from a 4‑star hotel such as conditioner, body lotion, or cotton buds—were missing. Towels were thin and small, and again, no bathrobes. The room clearly needs an upgrade. Hotel information printed on loose A4 sheets looks cheap and flimsy; a proper booklet would make a noticeable difference. To top it off, I couldn’t even find the reception phone number in the room when I needed assistance. I’m sorry for the bad review but really with potential like this location it’s a shame it’s driven so badly.
