Dementia Open Day
About the event
Join us at Dementia Open Day, hosted by the Victorian Pride Centre. Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Australia, yet many of us know little about it. People living with dementia can also face extra barriers to care that respects who they are, their identity, their history and the people they call family. This is compounded with the LGBTIQA+ experience.
This open day is a chance to learn, connect and ask questions in a welcoming, queer-affirming space. Pick up practical information on reducing your risk, recognising the early signs and finding support, and discover services that understand our communities.
Along the way, enjoy live performances and share a cuppa over light refreshments.
Whether you’re caring for someone, thinking about your own brain health or simply want to understand more, there’s a place for you here. Come along, bring someone you love and help us build a more dementia-friendly community.
