About this place La Cocina

La Cocina is a mid-priced restaurant on Paicaví in central Concepción. It's a mainstream gay-friendly place, not a gay venue. It's also one of the most-reviewed restaurants in the city (4.5 from more than 7,000 ratings), which suggests it gets busy at peak meal times. No hours or menu details are listed here, so check before going. Chilean lunch runs late, often from about 1:30 pm, and dinner rarely starts before 8 pm.

Terrible service. The waiter only half-took our order and asked what we wanted to drink, as if we weren't hungry. We waited almost half an hour for him to come back so we could finish ordering. There was a clear preference for customers who arrived after us, including better service for groups, even though there were only two of us. When we went to ask for the bill (since he never came back), he asked if we were leaving, but with complete indifference. And to top it all off, after we paid, he told us "goodbye" in a very unpleasant and unwelcoming tone. I won't be coming back here. I'm not lying, so I agree that the food is good, as they say. But the service can be the most inconsistent and unpleasant. Terrible service. The waiter took our order halfway through and only asked what we were going to drink, as if we weren't hungry. We spent almost half an hour waiting for him to come back so we could finish ordering. There was a clear preference shown to customers who arrived after us, including better service for groups—there were only two of us. When we went up to ask for the bill (since he never came back), he asked if we were leaving already, but with total indifference. To top it off, after paying, he threw a casual "right then, bye" at us in a pretty unpleasant and unwelcoming tone. They won't be seeing me around here again. I'm not lying, so I'll share that the food actually is good as they say. But the service can be wildly inconsistent and unpleasant. Well done The Kitchen.

The desserts are too big, the food is good, but I don't like the female staff because they keep crossing paths; it's uncomfortable and unpleasant.

A pleasant place, the food is decent but nothing extraordinary. The dishes take between 45 minutes and an hour to arrive.
