We went to the restaurant on a Sunday. There was an event that day, and it was packed. Even so, we went in and asked if there were any tables available. They told us they'd set one up for us. We never imagined they'd put us in a sort of back room, separate from everyone else.
The waitress told us it would take a little while, but they kept us there for over an hour. They brought us bread with pebre (a Chilean salsa) twice, plus the drinks we'd ordered. We only saw the waitress those two times in an hour. Even so, we were willing to wait since we'd been there several times before and thought it was worth it. When the food finally started arriving (there were five of us), some dishes came first, and others a little while later. We started eating and ordered two casseroles, two meat dishes with rice, and a "lomo a lo pobre" (a simple steak dish). The casseroles were inedible because the broth was extremely salty, the meat was ice cold, and we asked if they could heat them up a little. When they brought them back, they replaced the meat with a much smaller piece, and the rice was salty. The "lomo a lo pobre" was burnt and also salty. We couldn't eat anything and told the young woman who served us that we preferred not to eat since everything was so salty. She offered to add more water to the casseroles, but we told her no, that it would change the flavor, and that we would just pay for what we had eaten and leave. She brought us the bill and charged us for everything, but we couldn't eat anything, so we felt it was unfair. She said she would call the manager so we could speak with him, and that she wouldn't call the owner because he would get very angry. She said this almost with a fearful expression. The guy arrived and asked us what was going on. We told him what had happened, and he left us talking to ourselves. We didn't even get a word in before he left. We saw him go into the kitchen and yell at some people, and then we didn't see him again. We don't know what he said, but at that moment the owner arrived, acting very arrogantly, and said, "I'll charge you half the price of all the dishes, and that's the only solution." We told her, "No problem, we want to pay for what we consumed." But I think the owner thought we didn't want to pay, and she was very rude, speaking loudly and aggressively. Also, when they have events, be aware that you're only supposed to listen to the music because you can't talk. Even though we were in a separate room, we couldn't hear each other because the music they play is way too loud.
