Brooklyn Pride
About This Event
Brooklyn Pride is the borough's own Pride, separate from the Manhattan march at the end of June. It started in 1996, when organizers decided Brooklyn deserved its own day, and it's run by Brooklyn Pride, Inc., a volunteer nonprofit that lives on donations. Its signature is the Twilight Parade, which steps off around 7:30 pm. Listings call it the only evening Pride parade in the Northeast.
The day runs in three parts. A 5K run/walk goes through Prospect Park in the morning. A free street festival takes over Fifth Avenue in Park Slope through the day, with a main stage, family activities and more than a hundred vendors and community groups. In the evening the parade marches down Fifth Avenue from Lincoln Place.
It's a neighborhood event: local groups, Brooklyn politicians, drum lines and costumes rather than corporate floats. The R train runs along Fourth Avenue, one block from the route.
The 30th Twilight Parade took place on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
