About this place Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, & Hotel

Prairie Meadows is a large mainstream casino resort in Altoona, on the north-eastern edge of Des Moines, Iowa. It combines a casino floor, a horse-racing track with seasonal live racing, a hotel and several restaurants under one roof. It is listed as gay-friendly, not as a gay venue, and it is one of the busiest attractions in the area, with more than 10,000 Google reviews. Staying here makes sense if you want gaming or racing on site, and Adventureland amusement park is next door. Otherwise, downtown Des Moines is about 15 minutes away by car, and that is where the city's handful of gay bars are, mostly in the East Village. Guests must be 21 or over to enter the casino.
