Creating Your Own Ofrenda
About the event
There’s something really beautiful about making a small space for someone we miss.
On Saturday, October 17, we’re hosting a free virtual workshop where we’ll create our own nichos, little portable altars made to honor and remember loved ones who have passed.
Bring a small box or container, a few photos, a tea light, recuerdos, scraps of paper, ribbon, beads, drawings, whatever feels right. It doesn’t have to be perfect or traditional. It just has to mean something to you.
We’ll also make space for plática, a heart-to-heart conversation about what we’re creating and the people we’re carrying with us.
The workshop will be led by Celina Jacques, M.A., LMFT, AT, a Chicana Indigena visual artist, licensed psychotherapist, art therapist, apprentice Curandera, and professor with more than 20 years of experience using creativity and ritual for healing.
