About this place Kuaʻana Project

The Kuaʻana Project is a program of the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center, based in the center's offices at 677 Ala Moana Blvd in Kakaako. It was set up in 2015 for transgender and māhū people in Hawaiʻi. It offers peer support, help with legal name and gender-marker changes, food distribution and cultural programming rooted in the Native Hawaiian understanding of māhū. It is a service for residents, not a drop-in venue for visitors. If you need trans-specific support or referrals while in Honolulu, contact the center first rather than turning up at the office.
