I am sad to say that I was highly disappointed in my experience checking into Best Western-Independence, MO. I made this reservation earlier in the day due to not knowing how long we would be able to be on the road as we traveled to our destination. On the phone, I was assured that the room I requested was mobility accessible. If it was not, I would not have wasted their time and mine and would have just looked elsewhere. Several hours later after making the reservation, I called the hotel out of courtesy to let them know that we would be arriving a bit later than I initially said. I asked again if it was a mobility accessible room and bathroom. I was assured that it was. That phone call was around 8:45. We arrived at the hotel by 9:45. We checked in no later than 10:00. After being on the road for 8+ hours with a parent who is in need of a mobility accessible room and bathroom, we found ourselves utterly disappointed that the bathroom room was, indeed, not mobility accessible. I immediately went down to the front desk to notify them of this severe inconvenience. Nothing could be done about it at the time because the only mobility accessible room was taken. It was too late at night to look for another hotel. My mother could not shower. The next morning, I notified the front desk again of what happened. I was essentially told that communication is a two-way street and I should have asked specifically for a walk-in shower. When a person asks for a mobility accessible room and bathroom, a walk-in shower is implied. For recommendations in the future, I think it would be highly advantageous to provide more transparent and effective communication to visitors over the phone. Not only is it a fire hazard to put someone on the third floor who was in need of a mobility accessible room, the phone had no plug to adequately call the front desk if they need help, and the company could have had a serious liability on their hands if she had fallen in the bathtub. Thankfully, she thought it was wise not to try. I understand the night we arrived was a full night. However, again, I would not have wasted the hotel's time nor mine if I was fully aware the room we were given was not mobility accessible. I would be interested to hear how Best Western would like to remedy instances like this in the future.

One night stay on Friday the 22nd. We stay at a lot of Best Westerns and have not had any issues. There was long hair on the bathroom floor and the tub/shower was dirty with hair in it as well. So we knew the room was not clean. The floors (carpet) in the hallways were filthy and had not been vacuumed. Apparently this was graduation night in KC and we had to attend a funeral and could find no other place to stay.

Stayed here over the holiday weekend. Staff was very friendly. The hotel was very clean as were the rooms. Beds were very comfy and even the pillows were nice and firm. only thing we didn't enjoy was the indoor pool was soooo cold lol but once we got in for a while we enjoyed it as well. Location was great it was off the main road back in a quite area. We would defiantly stay here again.
