Safe Schools Volunteer Training
About the event
The Safe Schools Program is an educational speaking and outreach initiative where PFLAG NYC staff and community speakers visit elementary, middle, and high schools to promote understanding, equality, and inclusion. We’re always looking for dedicated volunteers who want to make a difference in the community by teaching kids that it’s okay to be exactly who they are.
We need parents and family members of LGBTQ+ people who want to share their stories about how and why they support their LGBTQ+ loved ones. We also need LGBTQ+ speakers who are excited to speak about their own journeys of self-acceptance.
If you’re interested in becoming a Safe Schools Program speaker, please click here to fill out the volunteer registration form. The form will ask about your availability to attend one of our regularly scheduled in-person trainings held at the PFLAG NYC office that orient new volunteers to the Safe Schools Program.
If none of the dates listed work for you, we are also available to provide one-on-one training for interested volunteers. Please reach out to safeschools@pflagnyc.org if you would like an individual training session, and we will work with you to find a time.
