NewFest Pride
About This Event
NewFest Pride is the early-summer festival from NewFest, New York's LGBTQ+ film organisation. It runs over five days around the start of Pride Month. It is separate from the main NewFest festival in October. The focus is on queer films that are about to come out, so you tend to see the big titles of the year here first, along with Q&As and parties.
Most screenings are at the SVA Theatre in Chelsea, on West 23rd Street. There are free outdoor screenings and a virtual pass for people elsewhere in the US. Single tickets started at $19.50 in 2026.
The 2026 edition ran from 28 May to 1 June. It opened with Adam Shankman's "Stop! That! Train!" starring RuPaul. It closed with the North American first screening of Jane Schoenbrun's "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma," which won the Queer Palm at Cannes. In between were a free screening of a "Heated Rivalry" episode at Pier 17 and a showing of "The Brittney Griner Story" at Gansevoort Plaza.
Recent editions have fallen across the last weekend of May and the first days of June. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
