Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes

We do a lot of staycations around the Phoenix area and finally decided to give Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes a try. In fact, we already had a July 4th stay booked, but wanted to experience the resort first before committing to a longer visit. The property itself is beautiful, and the pool areas are very nice. Our only suggestion would be to have some music playing around the pools to create a more enjoyable atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience with the front desk staff is the reason for the 3-star review. When we asked how to get to Top of the Rock Restaurant, the front desk associate immediately asked if we had a reservation. When my wife said no, her response was, “And you expect to go there tonight? You’re not getting a seat there tonight.” The tone and attitude were completely unnecessary and came across as rude and dismissive. Ironically, my wife went online right there, secured a reservation within minutes, and then had to return to ask for directions again. There was simply no reason for the interaction to be handled that way. Hospitality starts at the front desk, and first impressions matter. I do want to mention that the daytime front desk associate was very friendly and helpful, which made the contrast even more noticeable. Because of this experience, we ended up canceling our July 4th stay. We may give the resort another chance in the future because the property itself has a lot of potential, but management should address the level of customer service being provided by some front desk staff.

Didn't stay there but I kept seeing it from the highway so finally went and had breakfast. Can't remember the parking dudes name 🤔 maybe in his 50's VERY COOL bro very informative about the area considering I'm not form Phoenix. Took car of the car had my water bottle that I left in the restaurant. Speaking of. The food was awesome atmosphere fantastic wait staff very nice. Im going back. Thanks guys.

I grew up coming here and usually love it! With that being said ....I was pretty disappointed this time! It was our first vacation Away from kids in 2 years and we just wanted to relax! at 6:00am it sounded like someone was throwing a ball against our wall.... not sure if it was kids or what! and then at 8:30 the cleaning lady knocked on our day and said "checkout" Which made my husband and I very confused we quickly jumped out of bed packing confused and left... we text them and they said it was 11:00 and would check with the cleaning crew why they did that! Safe to say this was not relaxing just a little frustrating!

All around excellent resort.

Came here with a group of family for a birthday celebration in Phoenix. I cannot say enough good about this property. Everything was clean and well maintained. Rooms were larger than most and very nicely outfitted. Our entire family, all rented rooms, no one had a single issue with this hotel. Its close to the airport, check-in was courteous and prompt, rooms were clean and nicely updated, restaurant food and staff were great, pool was large and felt like a tropical paradise, provided hours of fun for the family. Even the giftshop was nice and had what we needed. Be prepared to walk a bit, and it takes a few hours to get the layout down. The property itself is absolutely beautiful with murals and a variety of desert plants. It has a wonderful view of the city from the bridge and offers a short on-property hike with some great views for the adventurers. Highly recommend staying here. We loved it and will certainly be back.

I had a fantastic experience at this Marriott location. The staff here are incredibly accommodating and efficient. A special shoutout to Denis from the front desk, who went above and beyond to assist me with a room switch to a King bed. Instead of making me walk all the way back down to the lobby, he was extremely thoughtful and personally brought the new room keys straight up to my door! This kind of seamless, top-notch customer service is exactly why I love staying at Marriott. Thank you, Denis, for the wonderful hospitality

I regretted staying here. I genuinely found it creepy and eerie. I was put in the most faraway building because they did not have my room type available in the closer buildings and I was not inclined to compromise away my king bed. The parking lot was poorly lit and a creepy man in the parking stall beside me genuinely scared the bejesus out of me as I was taking out my luggage- to the point that I quickly walked to the building and didn’t even finish taking out my belongings. The elevator to my (basement - nice move for a Lifetime Platinum!) room clanked and banged and I thought I was going to die in there. The hallways were musty. The room was extremely depressing. Electrical sockets loose in the walls, an air conditioner that woke me up every time it roared to life, and a broken ironing board that collapsed on my foot, leaving a gash. I used the Marriott chat to request a new ironing board and despite an enthusiastic response, it was never delivered. I had to call and follow up. I did find the staff generally friendly and earnest, which is the only reason this nightmare property earned an additional star.
