About the event

Sylvania United Church of Christ, an Open and Affirming congregation, welcomes all to a screening of the 2022 documentary, 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture. Directed by acclaimed lesbian filmmaker Sharon "Rocky" Roggio, the film examines how a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946 introduced the word "homosexual" into scripture, fueling modern anti-LGBTQIA+ prejudice within Christian movements. The film will be followed by a group discussion and refreshments.
