Last verified: November 2026. Orlando has had no gay hotel inside the city since the Parliament House Resort on Orange Blossom Trail closed on 2 November 2020. It was demolished in January 2021. Its owners still plan a comeback as a downtown venue, not a hotel. The only men-only place to sleep in the area is Pineapple Harbor Guesthouse, a clothing-optional house in a gated Kissimmee community near Disney. Everything else is mainstream hotels, and the city makes that harder because its gay bars are spread across four or five districts that are 3 to 10 km apart. Downtown has Anthem, Ivanhoe Village has Savoy, the Milk District has Southern Nights, District Dive and Stiffy's, Edgewater Drive has Barcodes and Hank's, and the bathhouse is in SoDo. No hotel is within walking distance of more than a couple of them. This guide covers which bases cut the taxi rides down, which hotels in the theme-park corridor are fine if you will drive in for one night, the men-only option, the 12.5% room tax, and how to book around Gay Days and One Magical Weekend (3–7 June 2027).

Where to sleep, in real minutes

Orlando has no gay street, so you can't pick a hotel by walking distance to the scene the way you can in Fort Lauderdale or Key West. Think of it as a set of districts joined by short car rides.

    • Downtown covers North and South Orange Avenue between Colonial Drive and Church Street. Anthem is at 100 N Orange Ave, and The Sapphire Lounge is west of the railway at 741 W Church St.
    • Ivanhoe Village is about 3 km north on North Orange Avenue. Savoy and Ivanhoe 1915 are next door to each other at 1913–1915.
    • Mills 50 is the community end of things. The LGBT+ Center Orlando is at 946 N Mills Ave and MojoMan is on Commonwealth Avenue.
    • The Milk District is about 3 km east. District Dive and Stiffy's are side by side at 2401–2405 E South St, and Southern Nights is a short ride south on South Bumby Avenue.
    • Edgewater Drive in College Park, about 6 km north-west, has Barcodes and Hank's.
    • SoDo, south of downtown, has Club Orlando at 450 E Compton St.

The city is flat, but the heat is not. From May to October a 20-minute walk at 3 pm is a different thing from the same walk at midnight. Most routes between districts are along wide roads with patchy shade and long gaps between crossings. Inside downtown and around Lake Eola, walking is easy. Between districts, use a car.

    Lake Eola and Thornton Park

This is the base we would pick for a first visit. Eo Inn at 227 N Eola Dr faces the lake. Outpost Neighborhood Tavern, which is on our LGBTQ list, shares the address, so your first drink is at the foot of the stairs. Anthem is 15–17 min away through downtown, and the Center on Mills Avenue is about 24 min on foot. To District Dive it's a 30–35 min walk east along Robinson Street or a ride of about 8 min. Thornton Park's cafés and Osteria Ester on East Central Boulevard are a few minutes' walk. Come Out With Pride happens in the park outside, so Pride weekend here is either perfect or impossible, depending on when you book. Walking the lake loop at 3 am is generally fine, as there are people around and the loop is well lit. Don't take shortcuts through the dark corners of the park.

Downtown core: Orange Avenue and Church Street

Aloft at 500 S Orange Ave is 10–11 min from Anthem and about 19 min from The Sapphire Lounge. It's also about 6–7 min from 29 S Orange Ave, the building the Parliament House owners say will be their new home (no opening date as of November 2026). Downtown's mainstream club strip has been thinning out. The Attic and The Treehouse on Pine Street both closed in spring 2026. At 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays the streets fill with straight club crowds and police, which is noisy but not unsafe. Ask for a room facing away from Orange Avenue. If you're paying more, two flagships not in our listings are worth a look: the Grand Bohemian (Autograph Collection) at 325 S Orange Ave, and Le Méridien on North Orange Avenue in the old bank block near Anthem (confirm the address before booking).

    North edge: Colonial Drive

Crowne Plaza at 304 W Colonial Dr is 16–18 min from Anthem. It's also the closest of our listings to the middle of the scene, at 12–14 min. That middle is a road junction, not a strip of bars. Ivanhoe Village is about 35 min on foot via Orange Avenue, and a ride takes 5–8 min. West of the hotel, Colonial Drive and Orange Blossom Trail are not walking routes at night. Two archived MotelX properties on West Colonial (919 W Colonial and 6510 W Colonial) were once listed as gay-friendly. They're hourly motels, and we no longer list them.

Ivanhoe Village and Mills 50: no hotels

Ivanhoe Village and Mills 50 are where most gay locals would want you to stay. Neither has a hotel we can recommend, and our listings have none there. Short-term rentals fill the gap, mostly bungalows on the streets off Orange Avenue and around Lake Ivanhoe. Check that the listing is legal in the City of Orlando and that the host collects the 6% county tax (see below). From around 1900 N Orange Ave, Savoy and Ivanhoe 1915 are a stroll away, as are Gnarly Barley at 1407 and the Renaissance Theatre Company on Princeton Street. The Center is 15–20 min on foot.

College Park and Orange Blossom Trail

The Orlando Lakefront tiny homes at 3405 N Orange Blossom Trail are 30–33 min on foot from Barcodes, the cruisier men's bar on Edgewater Drive. That's on paper. In practice the walk is along Orange Blossom Trail, which we would not do at night, so treat it as a 5-min ride. Downtown is about 15 min by car.

International Drive, Universal and Lake Buena Vista

Most visitors sleep in this corridor because of the parks and the convention centre. Rosen Centre (1,254 rooms) and Rosen Plaza connect to the convention centre. Rosen Shingle Creek (1,501 rooms) and Hilton Orlando are big pool resorts. Cambria is the tidier mid-range option near Universal. The M Hotel and Country Inn & Suites on Universal Boulevard are cheap, and recent reviews of both are mixed. The nearest gay venue to any of them is Club Orlando, 10–13 km away. Downtown is 13–17 km, or 20–30 min by car without traffic. If you're here for the parks and want one big night out, split the stay: park nights here, then one or two nights at Lake Eola. Orlando Palms on South Orange Blossom Trail is about 8.5 km from Club Orlando and is a sensible car-based budget option. Palm Tree Inn in Altamonte Springs is only worth it if your trip is in the northern suburbs.

    Gay-owned, men-only and clothing-optional

Pineapple Harbor Guesthouse (Kissimmee). This is the only men-only place to sleep in the Orlando area that we could find as of November 2026. It isn't in our listings. Its own site describes an exclusive guesthouse for gay and bisexual men, clothing-optional, with themed rooms, a large private pool, a hot tub and a dark room. It says it's in a gated community about 3 miles (5 km) from Walt Disney World. The rooms are also listed on misterb&b as a seven-bedroom house with private rooms and shared beds, breakfast included. It's a house, not a hotel. You get no front desk, and the street address is given after booking. Downtown's bars are about 30–40 min away by car. We could not confirm its 2026 rates or whether it takes day visitors, so confirm both before booking.

Club Orlando at 450 E Compton St is a men-only bathhouse with an outdoor pool, steam rooms, a gym and private rooms. It opens around the clock at weekends. It's not a hotel. Some visitors on a tight budget use a room there instead of a bed for a night, but you have to leave when your time is up, so don't plan a whole trip around it.

Parliament House was the big one. It had 112 rooms on North Orange Blossom Trail, plus bars and a show room, and it ran from 1975 until it closed on 2 November 2020. The building was demolished in January 2021. The owners first announced a move to 29 S Orange Ave in July 2021 and said again in June 2026 that a grand reopening was coming. What they've described is a venue for events and shows, not a hotel, and no opening date had been published by November 2026. Old guidebooks and some booking sites still list "Parliament House Resort". Ignore them.

Not gay, despite the listings. Secrets Hideaway Resort & Spa on Irlo Bronson Highway in Kissimmee is an adults-only swingers resort aimed at straight couples. Some sites tag it as LGBTQ-welcoming, but it isn't gay-travel accommodation. All the other hotels in this guide are mainstream properties that take gay couples without fuss, which is the norm in Orlando. None of them is gay-owned, as far as we could verify.

    Booking rules that bite

    • Hotel tax: 12.5% in Orange County. That's a 6% state tax plus a 0.5% county surtax, plus the county's 6% Tourist Development Tax, and it's charged on top of the room rate. The 6% tourist tax has been the county rate since 2006. Kissimmee and Celebration are in Osceola County, which sets its own rates, so check the total at checkout.
    • Resort and parking fees. Many hotels on International Drive and in Lake Buena Vista add a nightly resort fee. Since May 2025, US federal rules require hotels to show the total price including mandatory fees up front, so compare totals, not headline rates. Downtown hotels charge for parking, often more than you'd expect. Confirm the nightly rate, because it can push a cheap downtown room above a suburban one with free parking.
    • Visitors and ID. US hotels don't charge "joiner" fees. You'll show photo ID and a credit card at check-in, and the minimum age at many chains is 21. A visitor who isn't registered can come up with you, but some hotels ask that anyone staying overnight be added to the booking, and only registered guests get key cards. If you're booking for two, put two adults on the reservation so the question never comes up.
    • Deposits. Expect a card hold for incidentals, typically US$50–150 a night at chains (confirm with the hotel). Debit cards may be held for longer.
    • Short-term rentals. Check that the host collects the 6% county tax. Airbnb collects it automatically on stays of 182 nights or fewer. Read the house rules on visitors, because "no unregistered guests" clauses are common.
    • Gay Days and One Magical Weekend. Host-hotel rooms are sold through the organisers, often as packages with payment plans and stricter cancellation terms than an ordinary booking. Read them before you pay.

The gay calendar and where to book for it

Gay Days Orlando: 3–7 June 2027

This is the red-shirt weekend, running since June 1991. The unofficial centre is still the Saturday at Magic Kingdom with a group photo at the castle. Disney has never organised it. In 2026 the organiser paused the event in February, then reversed the decision two weeks later. It took over the whole 440-room Holiday Inn & Suites Orlando SW (Celebration area) for 4–7 June, and the other events had their own hotels: Crowne Plaza Lake Buena Vista for the bears, Hyatt Place Lake Buena Vista for the Pride Cup sports. In September 2026 Gay Days announced it was under new ownership for 2027. Rooms for 2027 have been on sale since late summer and premium room types were nearly sold out by late August. As of November 2026 we couldn't confirm the 2027 host hotel, so book through Gay Days Orlando and check the hotel's name on the confirmation. Book the host hotel if you want the parties on site. If you want the bars instead, two nights at Lake Eola works fine.

One Magical Weekend: 3–7 June 2027

This runs on the same dates as Gay Days and is a separate organiser, a non-profit. It puts on about 11 parties, with pool days and big-name DJs. Its base has been the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort. Confirm the 2027 host hotel through One Magical Weekend before booking elsewhere. Book Lake Buena Vista or Disney Springs-area hotels from January. Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista is the cheap fallback, but you'll be taking a car to every party.

    Come Out With Pride

The 2026 festival and parade took place on Saturday 17 October 2026 at Lake Eola Park. The date of Come Out With Pride 2027 is TBA, and the organisers hadn't announced it by November 2026. It's normally a Saturday in mid-October, close to National Coming Out Day. For Pride weekend, the hotels are Eo Inn, the downtown towers and anything within 15 min of the lake. Book as soon as the date is announced. One Magical Weekend held an official after-party downtown in 2026, and we would expect it again.

Big Gay Cruise from Port Canaveral

The last sailing left on 18 September 2026. The 2027 date is TBA (see Big Gay Cruise). Port Canaveral is about an hour east of Orlando airport. For a night before the cruise, stay near the airport or the port rather than downtown.

    Getting back at 3 am

    • From the airport. Orlando International (MCO) is about 20 km south-east of downtown. Uber and Lyft take 20–30 min and cost roughly US$30–45 before surge pricing (prices change, so treat this as a guide). Lynx buses leave from level 1 of terminal A, spaces A38–A41, for US$2 a trip, with a route to downtown's Lynx Central Station that takes about 45–60 min. Check the timetable for the last bus. A shuttle bus links the airport to the Sand Lake Road SunRail station, but SunRail runs only Monday to Friday, 5:30 am to 9:30 pm, so it's no use late at night. Brightline trains from Miami and Fort Lauderdale arrive at the airport, not downtown.
    • From the bars. Bars close at 2 am. Uber and Lyft are how everyone gets home, and both work well across the city. Rides between downtown, Ivanhoe Village and the Milk District take 7–12 min, and prices surge at 2 am on Saturdays. Book the ride from inside the bar, not on the kerb. Club Orlando is open all night at weekends.
    • Walking. These are fine at night: Lake Eola's lit loop, Central Boulevard into Thornton Park, North Orange Avenue between Colonial and Church while the clubs are open, and the strip around Savoy in Ivanhoe Village. Take a car for anything along Orange Blossom Trail, Parramore west of the railway after the bars empty (including the walk to The Sapphire Lounge), the gap between downtown and the Milk District, and anything in the theme-park corridor. Those are wide roads with fast traffic and few people about.
    • Driving. If you have a hire car, park it and leave it after drinking. Orange County police run DUI checkpoints, and Florida's DUI penalties are severe.

    Health, safety and the law

    • Clinic. The LGBT+ Center Orlando at 946 N Mills Ave offers free HIV and STI testing and can point you to PrEP providers. For PEP after an exposure, don't wait for an appointment. Go to an urgent-care centre or hospital emergency department within 72 hours, sooner if possible. Take travel insurance details, because US emergency care is expensive.
    • Dating apps. We found no Orlando robbery case aimed at gay men in 2025–2026. Orlando police did break up a ring in 2021 that used dating apps to lure people to apartment complexes and rob them, and a similar case targeting gay men led to arrests near New Orleans in May 2026. Meet first in a bar or hotel lobby, share your location with a friend, and don't hand over your phone or card.
    • Drugs and cannabis. Recreational cannabis is illegal in Florida. The 2024 legalisation vote won a majority but fell short of the 60% needed. Medical cannabis is for registered Florida patients only. Possessing most controlled substances, including those common in chemsex, is a felony. Hotels will call police over drug use, and staff checking a room can see more than you think.
    • Smoking. Florida bans smoking and vaping in enclosed workplaces, including hotel public areas. Nearly all hotels are non-smoking and charge a cleaning fee, often a few hundred dollars, if they find evidence of smoking in a room.
    • State laws. Same-sex relationships and marriage are legal, and hotels don't treat gay couples any differently. Florida has passed laws aimed at trans people, including restroom rules for government-owned buildings. Its 2023 drag law has been blocked by the courts as it applies to venues, and drag continues in the bars. Trans travellers should check the current position before the trip.
    • Bars on social media. After Pride in October 2026, Meta suspended the Instagram accounts of several Orlando gay bars, including Savoy and Stiffy's. Savoy now posts as @savoy.orlando. If a bar's page has vanished, it may still be open, so check Google Maps hours or phone them.
    • Pulse. The nightclub at 1912 S Orange Ave closed after the shooting on 12 June 2016, which killed 49 people. The tenth anniversary passed in June 2026. A permanent memorial is planned. Check whether the site is open to visitors before you go.

Three picks

Budget: Rosen Inn International. The Rosen group is Orlando-based and runs these inns cheaply and competently. On a parks trip with one night out, the money you save pays for the ride downtown. Choose it over the M Hotel or Country Inn, whose recent reviews are weaker.

Mid-range: Eo Inn. It's the only hotel in our listings that shares an address with an LGBTQ-listed bar (Outpost). It faces the park where Pride is held, it's 15–17 min from Anthem, and rides to Ivanhoe and the Milk District are short. Rooms are plain, so book it for the location.

Splurge: Rosen Shingle Creek. If you're coming for Gay Days or One Magical Weekend and staying by a pool anyway, its standard rooms are large (about 436 sq ft, 40 m²), it has its own golf course, and the reviews are consistently good. It's 20–30 min by car to the bars, so plan your big night out for one evening.

Is there a gay beach near Orlando?

Orlando is inland. The nearest well-known gay beach is the northern end of Playalinda Beach in Canaveral National Seashore, about an hour east. It has long been used unofficially as a clothing-optional area, but nudity is not formally permitted and rangers enforce against lewd behaviour, so treat its current status as unverified.
